questions about software capability

Hello, I was looking at different software that would allow remote access to different computers I own and multiplicity came up as one of them. I tried contacting support but it took me in a loop in the IVR system and couldn't get to a support representative. 

My question is would I be able to set up an office with a desktop, and then have my laptop at home connect to the desktop remotely? After doing some brief research, it seems like the devices would have to be on the same network so could something like tailscale be used? Or a private server set up with wireguard be used where both devices would connect to that?

Also, would this be able to support multi monitors? So if I had 3 monitors on my desktop, could I screencast that to a laptop with 2 monitor extenders?

Connections cannot be made over the Internet 'currently' but we have something cooking for that <mystery sound>.

You can do it now but both PCs would need to be on the same subnet - the only way to do that over the internet is to have them both connected to a VPN that has them both on the same subnet.

Although not an office-to-home setup I do this over several hundred miles itance between my computers. While the computers must be on the same LAN, it does not have to be via a physcial router - a virtual LAN works, too. I do this. I am not familiar with tailscale; I use Zero Tier and it works fine. Note that I am a non-business user so I get it free. Check requirements for business use if you look at it, and be aware there are other porducts that do the same thing.

I cannot help with an answer about monitors.

We use it in the office so yes, it is a fine alternative.

Awesome, thank you.

 

Would anyone happen to know if I could use this for a multimonitor setup? So if I had a 3 monitor desktop, could I connect my laptop with two extra monitors on it, to screencast the desktop? The resolution doesn't have to be 1:1, the ability to screencast the extra monitors is more important to me.

Would it be recommended to buy the software to test the multimonitor setup? And if that doesn't work, to return the software?
