What's your most prized possession?

After moving around so much lately I have had to pack my things and unpack them, some of my things have been given away and some have been thrown out.

But at the moment the one thing that I can say that I could not do without, well I suppose I could but I dont want to, is my laptop.

That is my most prized possession at the moment.

I would have to say my 45 ACP pistol. A LOT of me went into the making of this firearm! Especially since I did most of the work! They used it to teach me about gunsmithing. I even made the grips on her.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I can't think of any material possessions I couldn't or wouldn't live without so I'd have to say the ability to walk.

I'm not suprised miler... ::

I have two. My grandfathers pocket knife, and a miniature Tonka firetruck. It was my favorite toy.

My grandmother's hand mirror, it's made of petrified wood, and is from the 1800's. Add to that
all the pictures of the greats and grands, those pictures are fabulous, the earliest one I have is
of my greatgrandfather taken in 1865.

My grandmother's hand mirror, it's made of petrified wood, and is from the 1800's.


WOW! that is a real gem! not only the petrified wood which is probably thousands of years old .. but the pictures inside would be real treasures!

If the last two years have taught me nothing, they have taught me that material possessions are temporary, so my only "prized possessions" are my wife, children and friends, as those are all that matter

My lil' place at the beach, aptly named, "Insanity's Retreat", that and my
63 Chrysler 300 Convt to get me ( and the family ) there......

BTW DrMiller, nice "peashooter" there, waaaaay back when I was in the Arms Room
my side job was customizing the 1911's for the Officers.

It usually meant match grade barrels and bushings, packmyr grips, trigger upgrades,
sight upgrades and a lot of spring tweaking, the leftover parts went into my own
little creations ( all I had to do was order commercially a slide and frame )
I did several "two tone" Alum frame w/ stainless slides, and one georgous all stainless
with the most beautiful zebra wood grips.....

Alas, an ex-wife forced me to sell my toys to capitalize a "safe distance" move, some
folks say it'd been cheaper just to shoot her.......

You smithed all that yourself, Dr? Wow....I'm impressed. We had a Colt 1911 and a Sig Sauer P228 so I know a little about the workings of firearms....

As for my prized possession.....I don't think that I have one. I like my big Buddha statue, but I wouldn't be brokenhearted if something happened to it. I guess the thing that's most important to me is the computer, because I rely on it to keep in touch with D. My husband I couldn't live without...but he's not a possession, so he doesn't really count.

I'm just not very materialistic, I guess.

Im after possessions.. and it is interesting to see responses where even though it is nice to say that your family is what you value.. they aren't your possessions!

Ok, for actual possessions, I'll have to go with my crappy old Huffy mountain bike.

At least until I can afford a new Trek.

Now I'm impressed with it. Back when I was building it I was nothing but pissed at it. Of course it cost me a bunch in failed parts modifications. So in reality the pissed off should have been directed at myself.

Thank you Dyno. Back when I was smithing this one I was making $15 an hour + overtime. Now being on SSD, I don't have that kind of money anymore. BUMMER! If I was to do it all over again it would probably be SS or at least a mixture of it.

Sorry guys I wouldnt have a clue whatyour talking about with guns.. Ive never even seen one letalone fired one or made one.. I like our gun laws here in Australia.

i'm not big on material possessions either... i'm in the process of packing up to move right now, and i'm so pissed off at myself for owning so much SHIT that i can hardly stand it. I keep telling myself that if everything i owned burnt up in a fire I wouldn't care.

Having said all that, these are the things I would miss most... lol... hypocrisy is SO great!
in no particular order:

my computers (or rather, the information i have stored on them)
my pictures
my momentos from my 12 year military career (arming rings from the war, my flag, ribbons/medals, badges, etc...)
my CDs
my truck
my cowboy hat
my cowboy boots
i'm noticing a theme here
my Wranglers

Does my horse count as a material possession? no? ok

my most prized possession would prob'ly be my late Grandfather's coffee mug that my Grandma gave me when the old man died. It would take a long time to get over it if anything ever happened to that mug.

I know how ure feeling after moving twice in the last month, there is so much shit we do carry everywhere with us hey.

I agree with those that have said that material things don't matter. Prized doesn't mean monetarily valuable though. The most important material things to me are the vessels that hold memories. This include scrapbooks, negatives, CDs, DVDs and our computers that store all of our digital videos and pictures. I also consider my wedding ring among my most prized possessions. It isn't my most expensive piece of jewelry but it is my most prized.
