How can you remove a skin from "My skins" on Wincustomize?

I have submitted a ticket to Stardock Support on this issue but they replied that it is beyond their area of support. The information was forwarded to Wincustomze but I've heard nothing for several weeks. What I would like to know is how to remove an item from "My skins" which isn't showing up in the regular Gallery. There is the option to "Edit" the item but I can't find a way to remove it.

Click on the skin you want to delete (don't click on edit, but name of the skin) there is a delete option next to the preview pic

Don't be to hasty to delete a wallpaper that gets put in your personal page only. It happens all the time! Read this: WWW Link

Thanks for pointing out how to delete the wallpaper in question . . . DONE. I won't be submitting anything further to Wincustomize, which I also stated in my last ticket reply to Stardock support. Having something not approved is fine. But approving something and then not displaying it in the item's respective Gallery and further not responding to queries is unacceptable. My respect for Wincustomize has dropped considerably from this.

I felt the same way at one time and complained endlessly about it in a thread on the forum. Then I decided not to let it bother me! I've been here for not even a year yet and have never met a more helpful and supportive group of people. It is, of course up to you to stop coming here but believe me, this is the place to be for skinning!

2of3.... you misunderstood and misconstrued what I wrote above. I wrote: "My respect for Wincustomize has dropped considerably from this." I have been an Object Desktop and Wincustomize subscriber for many years. I will continue to be a loyal customer and supporter of Stardock. But I will not be submitting any further skins, wallpapers, etc., to Wincustomize nor renew my 2-year Wincustomize subscription unless I someday get a reasonable response from Wincustomize about this matter.

Although Stardock and Wincustomize are basically one of the same, they are separate entities it seems since my Stardock support ticket was forwarded to the Wincustomize folks for action, of which none came. Stardock support and these forums are undeniably great and thus I certainly have no intention of abandoning either.

Was the wallpaper sent to your personal page or was it in a totally wrong gallery (like logons)?

If it was regulated to your personal gallery that's the way it is.  It was decided that even if a skin or wall wasn't "ready for prime time" on the main page an artist should still have the opportunity to show it off.  Many artists will tell you that they get significant downloads from those sites.

Sorry you didn't get your expected response in your expected time-frame.  I can't explain that but I'm willing to take a shot at helping.

I won't be submitting anything further to Wincustomize, which I also stated in my last ticket reply to Stardock support.

If you upload something at WinCustomize, It won't help to complain to Stardock. As you said:

it's not the downloads who count there but if you take this as the numbers of people who saw it --->

for example (from my personal page):
total wallpapers: 31
total wallpapers showing in main gallery: 6
total wallpapers downloads: 8183
total wallpapers downloads (those who not showing): 3182

Amazing how wallpapers who are not in main gallery can get downloads/views isn't it

if you are happy of your work why delete it? make a bootskin/logon/screenshot/... with it and a link back to it in your gallery where the problem?

Sorry you didn't get your expected response in your expected time-frame. I can't explain that but I'm willing to take a shot at helping.

1. It was sent to the "My skins" section and not to any gallery.
2. I was told that the reason it wasn't showing up in the Wallpaper Gallery had nothing to do with it's "quality", i.e., it wasn't rejected for any aesthetic reason. Thus, I had to assume it was a technical reason, e.g., some glitch on the server. And on that basis I pursued support for quite some time trying to resolve whatever the problem was.
3. The wallpaper was a photograph which was certainly far better than the majority of wallpapers I have seen lately.... biased or not, that have been allowed in the Gallery.
4. Although having people download your work is always a plus, again it wasn't the issue for me. It was simply that the photo wasn't showing up in the Wallpaper Gallery even though it was accepted AND it was clearly stated that it wasn't rejected due to any lack of quality, etc. The lack of any communication from Wincustomize explaining things is the proverbial straw that broke this camel's back. I've spent plenty of money buying Stardock applications over the years, premium skins, Wincustomize subscriptions, browser, etc., etc., contributed in a small way to this forum, articles and even shared a few "skins" (bootskin, logonVista and screensavers). A quick reply from Wincustomize I think is not only considerate but expected. However, they have chosen to remain silent. So be it.

When dealing with the day to day happenings on Wincustomize.com, the 'buck' typically [mostly] stops with Zoomba and myself, not with Stardock Support.

If you have a query regarding upload submissions maybe being misplaced then we are the folks to contact.  Generally speaking SD Support has no access to the administering of Wincustomize.com.

Now, with the long and winding road of wallpaper/gallery management options the present determination is that moderation [rejection] would be relaxed somewhat to enable more works to be accepted, albeit some going to the members' personal pages, an option less drastic than total rejection...

Thats fair enough and if you still do not like where it was posted you still have the complete control to reject it yourself. This by delete of the skin/wallpaper or whatever from your personal files. Thus failure and try again to be posted in the regular gallery with another skin/wallpaper.

As it was in the past they would just reject it and it would be no where...
So atleast the mods are trying to give people a better chance and/or choices too!

Keep trying Hapkido being mad about what has happened never gets you nothing at all.
Trying will get you something sooner or later for sure...

1. It would have been nice, much better IF I had been given a way to contact you or Zoomba. I feel this issue could have been resolved quickly, one way or the other. I'm assuming of course, that I would have been treated as kindly and fairly by either/both of you as I have been over the years by my contacts with Stardock support who have been nothing less than stellar.

2. May I humbly suggest that a note be posted, perhaps in the Wallpaper upload section as to the policy you are currently using in regard to "acceptance" of items uploaded? I am one of those who wouldn't take offense whatsoever if my submission was flatly rejected. I have no silly notion about my "work" that it should be raised, de factor, to some pedestal or be automatically published. hehe

3. The caveat here is that the initial rating given by you and Zoomba (assumed) was a "4". The wallpaper was consigned to "My skins" only and not allowed in the Wallpaper Gallery. Yet, there are some really poor wallpapers, IMHO, that are in the Gallery which have a lower rating. Would you care to explain why this is? Something seems to be amiss.

4. @ Shelbygt: I am not "mad".... far from it. If anything I am perplexed and disgruntled for the previous reasons given, of which I see no need to iterate. What I had desired was a reasonable explanation and resolution. And until that happens I shall remain disgruntled and a saddened and reluctant non-supporter of Wincustomize although a continuing loyal supporter and promoter of Stardock products as I have been for several years.

At the bottom of this page, for example is an 'About' link ....

There you will find a list of admins/mods....and clicking on their names will open an email link, mine for example is my primary email addy [not a hotmail freebie, whatever].

Re #3, quite often there are submissions, eg photographs which aren't necessarily 'good' wallpapers but may still be 'good' photos ...so although they don't make it into the wallpaper gallery itself they may still attract a reasonable rating.

Unfortunately, the selection of acceptable/suitable walls is not as simple as selecting a legal-sized fish [where you simply throw back anything less than X inches], and one's personal individual perception will be that inferior works are approved over their betters.  

There's a need to be objective with selections, as not everyone has the same taste/s [fortunately]...

Thanks for the reply and especially the valued information re: contacts for Wincustomize.

For me, the matter is closed. I can sympathize with the difficulty in making judgments in regard to the mass of wallpapers you guys must have to peruse. But apparently what you would deem a good Desktop wallpaper is not something shared by me or anyone else who has been using my photo on their Desktop. hehe But that's fine... it's your site and your call. And knowing that our "tastes" are apparently quite .... hmm shall we say divergent, I'll refrain from submitting any in the future.
