bug in 5.5.3.2

I recently upgraded Fences to the 5.5.3.2 and have encountered a bug quite frequently. This bug was rare with previous versions of Fences.

I have two monitors, my main display being labeled by Windows as 2, my secondary as 1. Each monitor is connected to two systems - my main PC (via DisplayPort) and my laptop (via HDMI). Only my PC uses Fences, and the Fences are on my primary monitor (2).

When switching sources back and forth, Fences will relatively frequently jack up on Fences. Sometimes it resizes and scrunches then together on monitor 2, and just today it moved the Fences to monitor 1 (as well as resizing and scrunching them together).

With prior versions of Fences, only rarely would the Fences get moved/scrunched, and they never got moved to other monitor.

I am running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 and an nVidia 3080 TI with current drivers.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Fences 5.53 come with a new and better layout engine. You might need to Start from fresh, don't used your saved layout. Setup the layout manually all over again. Save it and see if the issue still there after reboot. Also, review this guide: https://stardock.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SHC/pages/1261666307/Fences+and+Multi-Monitor+with+Docking+Stations.

Note the part on.

As of 5/22/2024, new installations of Fences 5.53 will have the “Backups” setting “Store my layout on a per-multimonitor-configuration basis” enabled by default. Existing installations of Fences will need to manually configure this setting.

Interesting, thank you for point this out. I had never noticed this setting before and confirm this option was NOT selected. I have now selected that option and will see what happens. If it fixes the issue I will post here (may take a week or so to verify fix).
