Hardin is on tour for a few days in Montreal, so I decided to have a lazy Saturday evening. I plopped down on my futon and began to channel surf. Just as I was about to give up hope, I noticed that one of my favorite movies was on....
The Truth About Cats and Dogs stars Janine Garafalo as a short, cute, intelligent, and popular radio personality who hosts a show entitled, "The Truth About Cats and Dogs." A handsome man calls the show and decides he wants to meet her. Abby (Garafalo's character) becomes nervous because she doesn't know how he will react to her not so ultra supermodel appearance. Noel, a tall, leggy, beautiful, yet dense, budding news reporter, played by Uma Thurman, meets Garafalo by chance. Garafalo sets it up so that the handsome man will actually be meeting Noel acting to be Abby, instead of the true Abby, making him think that the tall beautiful woman was the lady he heard on the radio. Of course he is highly attracted to Noel playing Abby, but he noticed that she wasn't quite the same as she appeared on the radio. Eventually the truth comes out in the wash, and he ends up loving Abby for her mind, and thinks she is beautiful anyways.
This movie imitates life in so many ways. There will always be the "cute girl" and the "beautiful girl." But which one would you rather come home to?
The cute girl can be described as charming, extroverted, and intelligent. She is the first one to be watching football and popping a Corona with the guys. She's gutsy, not afraid of risks, and will accomplish anything she can set her mind to. Sometimes she's the girl who will let you copy her homework, other times she'll be the one teaching you how to finish your homework. She's the one that will listen to what you say, and will give you her honest opinion. She will be the one telling you that "that one tramp is not worth it," when all she wants you to do is notice her. She is more like a sister than a lover.
On the other hand, there is the hot girl. This woman can be described as sultry, sexy, and beautiful. When she walks into a room, the music stops. She has legs that go on for miles. Her makeup is done perfectly, and her dress shows off the right parts. She drinks liquor only. She has the power to suck you in, chew you up, and spit you out. She will make you work to get her, because she knows that she is a prize. She is the only woman in the room.
All my life I have been the "cute girl." I am the first to hang with the guys and drink beer. I am the first to be the one to act like a fool, and bring others with me. Usually, I am extremely extroverted. I will tell you how it is...As I am brutally honest. I am a listener. I am an achiever. I could care less about how my tits look in that certain dress, and I will be the first to tell the guys. I am the cute girl.
Although I refuse to change who I am, just once I would love to be the one that turns heads. The one that all the guys congratulate my husband for being with. I want to be the hot girl, with cuteness dammit!!
So, I ask you this. Is it possible for the cute girl to be the head turner? What does everyone think? For the guys..which one do you prefer? For the ladies...which one are you?
