Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has produced a new documentary called “Super Size Me.” Spurlock uses himself as the guinea pig. The documentary takes a look at America’s addiction to fast food very up-close and personal. For one month, the 33-year-old Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's food--breakfast, lunch and dinner.
After only a few days, Spurlock started puking up meals, struggled with depression and had wild mood swings. He even lost his sex drive. By the end of the month, he gained 25 pounds, his cholesterol ballooned from 160 to 240 and doctors were alarmed by his liver toxicity. The three doctors monitoring him were shocked most of all by his liver.
Spurlock got the idea for his movie in 2002 when he heard about four people who filed suit against McDonald's for making them extremely fat. The world's largest restaurant company responded by saying that McDonald's food was good and nutritious. Spurlock was skeptical.
It says a lot about our society when obese people sue restaurants for making them fat, wealthy executives and lawyers defend a Big Mac's nutritive value, and a reality show lets average Americans watch someone get fat and depressed.
I am really looking forward to seeing this documentary when it finally gets released. It should be very educational as to what we all should be putting into the bodies God gave us.
