I grew up with bands like REO Speedwagon and Twisted Sister. As a teenager, I loved that kind of music. But at 32 years of age, I find myself evolving to other types of music. Not that I still don’t like rock, but just find myself wanting to hear other kinds of music as well.
One new young singer who caught my ear a couple of years ago was Charlotte Church. When I first heard her, I was delighted by her incredibly gorgeous voice. When I found out she was only 15, I was very surprised. Then I found out she had made her first album when she was only 12. And it was the most popular album ever sold for a singer her age. Charlotte has never had much training as a singer. She grew up with a natural singing talent. At 17 now, she undoubtedly has a great singing career ahead of her. I was fortunate enough to see her perform at the Aladdin Theater back in April of 2003. She was on her way to a major function somewhere here in the United States and had stopped off here in Las Vegas for only one night. It was an excellent performance and her stage presence was stunning.
It is truly a breath of fresh air to have someone like her bringing singing talent to the world in these times. In a time when you have such immoral people like Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Britney Spears, Charlotte Church is a beacon of hope for a decadent, whoring, Hollywood-ish Entertainment Industry.
