Okay, well I should point out that since I work with elementary school kids everyday that I am constantly getting to relive my childhood. I get to play candyland, dodgeball, and climb on the jungle gym. I'm a lot better at dodge ball now than I was in 4th grade, and I get picked a lot quicker for kickball now. Anyway I grabbed a book out of the school library and began reading Roald Dahl's (author of James and the Giant Peach among others) and am really enjoying it. I hated to read when I was kid so I thought I'd inquire as to what titles others would name as their childhood favorites. Not so much The Hungry Caterpillar, but more "chapter book" style. I do recall being a big fan of the "choose your own adventure" series, but that was probably just because some of the them would end up with you dying a very explicitly gruesome death, which, apparently was a cool idea when I was 10 years old.
