For me, I don't really care how much a celeb spends to maintain his or her lifestyle. Furthermore, outlandish "perks" for themselves usually translates to jobs (somebody had to sit and seperate the M&Ms for Van Halen.. right?). What bugs me is when they point their crooked little fingers at everyone else, telling us that we aren't doing enough for whatever their cause celeb may be.
The logic seems to go like this, "since you will make a lot more money for your charity by contracting a celebrity spokesperson, it shouldn't bother you to make them feel welcome". I can see covering expenses, I mean, why should the celebrity be forced to donate their time to the charity for which they are going to publicly endorse? However, as the article points out, "expenses" can get pretty expensive. 4 star hotels, limos, vehicles for "entourage" and of course, wardrobe for the appearance, all come out of the gross take in donations. In a few cases, the cost of contracting the celebrity far outweighed the take in donations. Did the celebrities care? Not for a second. They got theirs, who cares about the charity. It's all part of the scam.
Now, I love movies, so I'm glad there are actors out there willing to make them. However, they get so caught up in their own self importance that they forget that they are merely trained monkeys paraded out to entertain us.
