Solution for the illegal alien problem

President Bushes proposal is NOT acceptable.

With most Americans concerned with the Illegal alien problem and my President seeking a solution that for me is totally unacceptable, giving illegals a form of clemency, and then allowing work passes for new low paying jobs American will not take.

I feel the obvious solution is to raise wages in these low paying fields, offer health benefits. And correspondingly sell any products or services at a higher rate.

If there were no choice of hiring lower paid workers people that need help would HAVE to pay the higher scale.

Eliminate the illegal problem by eliminating their jobs, after all that’s why there here to work {or rob}, this achieves two purposes, one creates more jobs for Americans, and two eliminates the need for foreign workers, thereby helping to stop illegal immigration

Are you crazy? Then who will do our landscaping work? Who will do the cleaning work? Nobody? So hotels will become dirty, parks will overflow with foilage, and people will not be able to find maids/housekeepers/gardeners.

What kind of republican are you? And futher, why are you against the immigration?

I am not against immigration, notice the word ILLEGAL in my post.

If you read the post you will see I said higher wages and health benifits too.

Go back and reread the post. use a dictionary for the big words if you must sandy.

Now, you see, the problem with your idea IS the higher wages part. Hotels/homeowners can't afford (or won't choose to afford) higher wages. They certainly can not provide health benefits. Americans as a people are spoiled, and they feel entitled to certain pay. Instead of taking low paying jobs, and living, if not comfortbly, then well enough, they choose to complain about how there are no jobs. If you will go back and read my article Those !@#$% foreigners...stealing american jobs
, you will see some reasons for ... illegal immigration.

Juxt- the problem here isn't that we need illegal immigrants, the problem is that moderateman's proposal would require health benefits, bigger wages for the legal immigrants.

oh my god jux..... legal wow.... could that be the RIGHT way to enter this country? NOT according to sandy.... ILLEGAL immagration is just fine with him as long as he can hire cheap labor, not offer health benefits, call em boy, or girl.. ah sandy living large in the leftwing, allowing slave labor.. good man ...

last time I checked this was still america where I can say what I want to anyone I want.... Use a dictionary sandy, mr. perfect..

This goes to show how some people aren't as heavy handed with the delete button as I am. I try not to blacklist, but damn, don't try to turn a conversation into a "Dictionary" assfest on one of my blogs... jeez...

Technically, they shouldn't have a choice now since it is illegal to do it. I mean, do you think they pay these illegals minimum wage? If you ask me a better tactic would be make the employers more responsible for the people they hire, and how they cook the books to get by with paying so little.

Honestly, I don't think most illegals want this kind of job. They want to be able to go back to Mexico at will. If they stayed here their wages would SUCK, since they'd have to spend them here, too, and pay what we pay, instead of weathering it until they can get home. Most Americans in these kinds of jobs don't want a third of their salary to go to insurance, either.

I don't think insurance companies would put up with it, and would lobby the idea out of existance. They don't want to pay benefits to millions of illegals. I don't think Americans would want higher payments to soak up the billions they'd pay out to illegals, either.

I find it interesting how lefties suddenly turn into rabid capitalists when the topic of conversation turns to illegal immigration.

Sandy, there was very little immigration into the United States between 1925 and 1965. Lawmakers thought there should be ebb in the immigration tide so the recent arrivals could be absorbed into American society. And the immigrants weren't equally distributed around the country. They tended to move to the cities of the Northeast and the metropoles around the Great Lakes.

Contrary to media disemination, prior to 1965 there were restaurants, hotels, landscapers in every part of the country: from Manhattan to Pocatello; from Long Beach to Rhinelander; from New Orleans to Bennington; from Detroit to Valentine. And somehow these businesses still had workers who washed dishes and wiped off tables and cleaned hotel rooms and picked crops, and so on.

Who did all this work before the aliens began pouring across the border? Poor whites and blacks, and teenagers who were expected to learn the value of a dollar. All of whom there is no shortage.

Moderateman, I too am horrified at the President's zeal in his push for amnesty. In one of my recent articles I linked to study that showed the Net Result of illegal aliens in the United States was a loss of $10 Billion to the Federal Government alone. And the problem would be much worse if the President got his amnesty proposal passed. The amount of money sent by Latin American immigrant workers to their homelands was almost $30 Billion.

One part of my solution would push for very heavy fines for employees who hire illegal aliens. Our society wouldn't be so forgiving if instead of a restaurant, the owner was running an ante-bellum plantation. The fines would be levied against the owner for each illegal alien employed to the tune of the salary for a minimum wage worker for as long as the illegal alien was employed.

Amen!  I was enjoying the whole back and forth between Sandy and Moderateman.  As anyone can see, in this instance, Moderateman is espousing a Liberal agenda, and Sandy is espousing a conservative one! I think it is a riot!

Now I can die peacefully as I have seen everything! !
