Apparantly Newt Gingrich is considering a run for prez in 2008. And he ain't happy with his party either.

I see the Republican canidate as Trent Lott in 2008.  I admit I don't follow RNC politics like I should, but from what I've been hearing in the news I believe he's manuevering himself to be Bush's replacement.  His moves have been designed to set himself as independent of Bush, and slightly more moderate, which I believe will allow himself to capture some of the middle block when Bush's "awe-shucks" charisma is gone.

McCain has shot his chances by dancing all around the political spectrum.  Righties don't like him because he was too moderate for them in 2000, Lefties don't like him because he danced back to Bush in 2004.  Moderates, well, believe it or not, they just don't like people who can't make up their mind.

I think Mod has the right (no pun intended man) idea. Rudy is the logical choice. I would love to see Rudy vs Bob Graham. The battle of the middle!

My favorite Repub is Big John, but i agree that he might have diluted his political clout with all the dancing he did just before the election.

And Guy, it would take more than a bullet to stop hillary...Perhaps a stake through the heart?

Interesting possible matchup Latour. But i think Howie blew it with the screaming. I think he would make pretty good Veep though. I would love to see Big John run, but i don't think he will.

John McCain vs. Howard Dean would probably be a difficult decision. And not negatively. And THAT'S a change of pace.

As for Florida Senator and Governor Bob Graham, I think he's retired from public life.

I think Gephardt is retiring anyway to work at Washington University in St. Louis. But there's still hope...

But i think Howie blew it with the screaming


Whatever happened to the days of "Give 'em hell, Harry!" Plus if the war in Iraq goes badly people might say "Howard Dean was right." And hopefully the media won't destroy him in '08. When I've seen him on TV when he wasn't screaming, he seemed pretty calm, intelligent and very personable.

Give 'em hell, Howard!

Another interesting one would be if they remove the two-term limit, Bush vs. Bill Clinton.

Or how about McGovern?

Seriously, think about it. When was the last sitting senator that won the presidency? Think 45 years ago.

Best bet (altho I think he is a nut Job) is someone like Dean. Or (God forbid!) Warner (Governor, not Senator). The Repubs will run a governor probably as well, or even a Cabinet Member. Maybe even Liddy, but I dont think she has a chance. Check back in a year. The field should be getting better organized by that time.
