There were a lot of people back 60+ years ago that thought Roosevelt was a dismal failure,


and a lot more people who elected him to four consecutive terms.  

your statements about the japanese intentions in 1941 are ludicrous btw.  yamamoto's plan to bomb pearl harbor was based on what the japanese perceived as a rapidly closing window of opportunity;  they had to attack the us then or lack the resources to do it later.  hawaii may not have been a state, but an attack on our fleet is an attack on the nation.

Again, the historians will write about these things, and it's not going to be pretty.


dabe and Dr. Guy in this respect your both right. But dabe, Carter and Kennedy while considered great Presidents in their time have been slowly losing Great President points every year. (Carter very quickly). Both was loved in their day, but as people that remember their charisma begin to die off, it is their legacy of lasting actions that will determine who will become great in time. (Will people remember the Bay of pigs or the space programs, Cuban missile crisis or our entry into the Vietnam war, Iran hostage problem or winning the Nobel peace prize?) Old Ronald Reagan was despised by many in his time, peoples view of him has jumped in resent years (Again risking nuclear war or ending Communist control in many parts of the world). Even Nixon's rating has been raising too.

Other presidents that was consider great in their day, but have ended at the bottom would be Grant, and Wilson.

Only time will tell if Bush 2 will be remembered for Social Security reform, bringing Democracy to the Middle East, or chief instigator bringing/stopping the raise of world Islamic fundamentalism .

Americans were sent to Vietnam first in 1957 during the Eisenhower administration. The number of troops did not increase incrementally until after the Gulf of Tonkin incident. The Bay of Pigs was planned during the Eisenhower administration as well. Pressure from the anti-Communists led Kennedy to proceed in both areas.

Wrong again. They were bombs dropped from a sea plane launched from a Submarine. Even today, no one could remote control a balloon over 6000 miles with any degree of accuracy.

Misleading to say that Dubyah's margin was bigger since there were just over 48 million votes in 1944. Winning by 3.5 million votes with 120 million votes counted is much closer. Roosevelt's % of victory was far greater as he pulled 53.3% of the votes compared to 45.8 % for Dewey. The electoral college fell 432-99.

Why is an attack on our fleet an attack on our nation,but an attack on our airforce not an attack on our nation?

And my statement on the Japanese intentions had nothing to do with why they attacked pearl harbor, so they cannot be ludicrous, since they are non-existant.

Interesting side bar.  Grant was anti-semetic!  And probably the worst of all presidents,but he did win the war, and so in his time, he was a demi-god

Lee, I am not saying Bush will be judged great or not.  I am merely saying that it is not up to us to judge him, and like you point out, future generations will be the ultimate judge.  I dont know how they will judge him, but I know when the final tally is done, people like Dabe will have long passed to dust, and the venom that is not spat at him will be a dim and irrelevant memory.

Trust me, I do not think right wing lunacy is disagreement with my viewpoint, its when an argument stops making credible points and starts launching personal attacks as to the validity of my thought process. I am aware that you don't directly call anyone anything, ever. It is probably a safeguard against retaliation, like the ludicrous point of not knowing anything that you made earlier. Either way, you are truly naive if you don't think anyone can see through it.
