First a little introduction. Loving GalCiv I purchased Elemental from Stardock. When Fallen Enchantress came out I theoretically got a discount for it. I did not use it as I wanted to have FE on my preferred platform - Steam. I bought it there together with DLCs.

Now Stardock published Legendary Heroes and on my Steam account I could see a discount for Legendary heroes since I had FE. I planned to buy it but was putting it off. Yesterday I decided to buy it... and to my surprise the discount was gone and the game's price higher than before.

Nowhere did Stardock claim that the discount was a temporary offer, there was no warning. They claimed that releasing everything as standalone instead of normal expansions (like in the time of Galciv2) has no ill bearing on the customer. Well, if it had been a traditional expansion requiring the basic game this could not happen. Now I stand before the choice whether I want to pay for the third time a full price for essentially the same game... I really think that this practice is unfair, what we could call "money grabbing".

For the record Stardock store at the first step still offers the discount but later does not allow me to finish the purchase, probably because I bought from steam.

I still love Stardock games but can't say I like the company.
