I am thinking of starting a book based on sins of a solar empire and plan on selling it, not on a major scale just enough to make a little money off it, but i was wondering if that is even legal to do.
99% sure it is not. You can't make money on anyone else's IP without permission.
I'm also surprised you're confident you can actually make money on a Sins book.
Just pm someone in the company and ask. If they give you permission, problem solved.
I actually have a story board for a Sins-inspired book (not an actual "Sins book") and I have pondered using the "Vasari" in it just as a nod.
Yea i though as much, just wondering. Thank you for responding so soon

Actually, writing a fiction book for money is probably the wrong approach. You write it to write. If you get lucky some money can fall out.
that is true, i completely agree.I have wrote a couple of short stories before. The money thing isn't the main reason for writing the book. But like you said if i get a little money, hey ill take it!
I would guess that as long DONT make money = selling it the owner of the IP probably will have no issues.
Still.... you should ask .....
