Quoting Mr_Book, reply 21Axxo2 have you ever actually played SoaSE?
lol yes i have, i was kidding , maybe we should play u vs me mp sometime
The problem is that any nerf will make it outright useless.
Even right now, stripping is good for about two things:
- Strategic denial of planet from opponent
- Strip-rushing - this has to happen early enough and you must not fail to use the resources correctly. You also have to keep your momentum, because if you stop stripping, you barely have any income. And even that won't guarantee you success on large maps with many players.
Stripping for resources is huge gamble - you have to build a fleet and have to utilize it to defeat/cripple your opponents. If you fail to do it, you have nothing - no economy and crippled fleet. On the other hand, if you instead left the planet and filled it with trade ports (especially if it would allow you to prolong your trade line), the planet would generate the same money in about 10 minutes and would continue to do so for hours.
I love VL, but not for stripping - that is just a gimmick. IMO the true power is in their economy. Once you have Shiboard labs, you can scrap all your labs and build trade ports instead - this is huge boon on crowded maps. Another great source of income is the capital ship taxation. Pair this with Vorastra, the ultimate harassment machine (it can pass through gravity wells in moments, easily escape when overwhelmed and call its army when it needs it) and fun is guaranteed.
