Back to the original topic: does anyone else notice the ai at varying difficulty levels not building subcaps in the mid to late game? I am repeatedly finding myself in combat against ai that ONLY have a titan and 10-14 capitals with zero support except what they mind control from my own forces.
Yes, its pretty much happening. Surely this will get fixed by devs...eventually.
Regarding my game, i restarted it yesterday, did as i planned, i mean deployed some minefields to the place, where i expected the enemy fleet to drop out of phase space, researched metereoid control, built few more repair stations and 2x antimatter rechargers.
Then the enemy came again, Ragnarov and 14 capships, nothing more and the consequent battle took more than a hour. I lost 3 of my 4 capships initially and things did not look so well, but somehow, he was unable to break my SB + Titan, which were constantly repaired and AM recharged. At the same time, i was unable to destroy even one of his capships, my entire offensive power were about 10 drone hosts, during the battle i built few more, in the end i about 60x strikecraft. This was still not enough to destroy one single enemy capship, as it was constantly shield restored and my strikecraft suffered from Kols and Ragnarov flaks. The whole situation became definition of stalemate, although i felt i was slowly losing it.
My luck changed only after i gained some money and spent it on weapon research, only then finally my bombers started to actually kill enemy caps, for some reason he decided to move his entire fleet closer to my SB and Titan and i was able to kill the Ragnarov as well. Ultimately, he lost half of his capships and retreated.
Then i took my Titan through alternate route across the map to his capital planet, reposessed it and game over.
