I think that's tree pronounced as in tray.  The young are trying to emulate the French these days, bein' as they wanna swap the StatLib for the EifTow & all (both French, interestingly).

What part of communism (government taking over business) has anything to do with "free enterprise"?

Surely you've heard of the Commerce Clause? Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3?

Which was my point.  There's a difference between 'having the power' to do general things and a 'mandate,' which implies a requirement to do certain things.

anyone who's able to use a phrase like the above without grinning must either be irredeemably cynical or has not even a glimmer of a clue as to what transpired during september 2008 or both.

same goes for those whom--upon hearing the word "socialist"--think first of obama instead of hank paulson.

I guess that depends on their motivation. You're a successful CEO - wouldn't you enjoy the challenge of turning around a once-failing company? The prestige alone would guarantee a healthy salary for your next role.

It would make an interesting seperate discussion.

In my limited experience, people are motivated by money, fame, or power (or some combination).

I'm not motivated at all by fame. Could care less.  I am mainly motivated by a form of power - freedom for myself.

it's like faith. I acknowledge the existence of its belief and or intent and rank it up there with other mystical ideas/beings, etc. such as unicorns, et. al.
