"1. It is not your fault." |
No, it isn't. Well, not the average Democrat's fault. I think the Micheal Moores and those akin to him here on JU and the rest of the internet and media made an apathetic subset of Republicans mad enough to go vote. You don't woo people with hateful derision and attacks on our values.
"2. You have four more years to educate people" |
You guys really, really can't grasp the concept that maybe YOU might need to be educated over the next four years, can you? See my answer to #1 above. Every time Democrats here make statements like that and try to "educate" grown Republicans like they are ignorant, they just drive home how much the leading edge of the Democratic party has no business possessing a shred of power in the US. They'll have less and less as that attitude continues.
"3. Remember what's important and that's what you stand for. " |
Absolutely, as long as you understand that there are no universal truths, and that what is important to you might not be that important to the majority. you might realize in a day or a year that you were completely wrong, and be darn grateful that you didn't get your way. If the left should learn anything from this election it is that they are just one side of the coin and both sides are valid. That's why this election was lost, imho. Democrats spent four years pretending the election in 2000 was rigged and forgot that as many people opposed them as agreed with them.
"4. Count your blessings." |
Seems to be the worst problem. The anti-Bush people try so hard to impose the idea that the world is going to hell in a handbasket that I think they damage themselves with all the negativity. I can understand theory and rhetoric, but damn if some people here at JU aren't sounding more and more like Old Testament prophets, screaming about the end of the world if we don't change our ways. Prophets generally didn't have much in the way of fun...
"5. Though you may not have the upper hand, " |
Enough with the asinine comparisions of Republican America to the Antibellum South and Nazi Germany. It's pathetic, and spotlights how overly dramatic and full of crap the whole debate is. Overfed soccer moms driving around with Kerry bumper stickers on their $30k SUVs pretending they are slaves or Anne Franks makes me wanna PUKE. See the answer to #1 again...
"6. "Don't let the sun go down on your anger... Left to fester, it may lead you to do things that may compromise your intergrity." |
Too late. We have faced the spit and venom and spite of the Left like an ever-increasing hum. I think if people were concerned with the damage to their integrity their hate is causing they should have dealt with it a year ago, before they started bludgeoning people and burning bridges. The people I have seen here who constantly lied to sway people to Kerry aren;t going to get any respect from me for being civil and honest now. I don't really jive with the idea of "Be civil and honest as long as you have nothing to gain from it."
"7. There is more to life than the elections." |
Again, I wish someone woul dhave been concerned about that pre-election. JU was basically ruined for me for months. Sure, settle down and feel better, but unless it is done with an objective view of what happened you are just going to revert to the "I know I was right, and that is all that matters" state that festers into elections like the last one. See my answer to #2. Don't overlook your own education. Maybe you can learn to appreciate other people's reality now that you realize how prevalent it is...
"8. Bask in the "athlete's" afterglow" |
No doubt. It was trying, but we should be relieved that it is over. Most Democrats fought a good fight and deserve to feel proud of themselves. The rest I think aren't capable of "basking", and will be so possessed and bitter that the election will just continue for four years.
