Some of you might recall that I'm a poet. I studied at Boston in the early 70's under Prof. Lloyd Schwartz, and got a couple of A's on some of my pieces. I was completely unaware of how completely out of my mind I was back then, and Prof. Schwartz,(now a nationally recognized writer, film critic, all-around good guy) was so kind in developing and converting my misguided energies. At any rate, I want you all to know that I'm not some 'crazy' howlin at the moon.
Has anyone noticed that the election is over? If you are a conservative type like me, you've already experienced the peace that passes understanding as the Lord informs you that this thing is really just starting. You see now what happens when you leave it to the next guy to do your fighting. There is a storm coming and we need to be getting ready. What was the name of that hurricane down in New Orleans that Republicans got beat up over? That was nothin' compared to the storm brewing. That was just a picture of people, Republican people, getting caught off-guard, and letting all those Democrats get so naturaly and un-naturaly messed-up. You know what I'm sayin'? This next storm, this Democratic majority, so --------, so -------,(practicing my 'hate-speech' maneuvering) is not just a Hollywood movie... or is it? No, it is our reality. And the damage to our nation will be very real, and we will be needing major efforts at rebuilding and all of that. It a time for...(dare I say it?) ch..cha...change.
Time for a poem,ok? This wil be real time, but not to worry Professor, I will write and re-write and re write.
THE CALM
Just press fast forward... and get low.
Education means what? Says who? #%#**%#
I don't really talk like that, anymore, hardly ever.
But this is going to stop. Press stop!
What did my wife ever see in me?
Am I really the only one on to me...is that it?
Was it my poetry? Could that be it...?WATCH OUT!!!
I said press stop. Will you not press stop?
The Nina, the Pinta, and the Mayflower have avoided the hurricane
The God of the Universe has requested your presence, Americo,
And all you polished (you are polished, right?) arrows
Prepare! Prepare for flight
Take aim. Take aim of minutes, of hours and days; of two years.
See how quickly now that our time appears.
Well, what do you all think? Remember, it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. All I'm saying is that this is not the end of the road nor the end of days. My friends, be of good cheer and gird yourselves for the work in front of us. I am. There are millions of them and there are millions of us and millions in the middle who were deceived into siding with the deceivers and the deceived. Be the light that you can be and steady yourselves. I'm saying all this only to insist that there is nothing wrong in trying to get it right. "Be perfect," says the Lord,(He's soooo cool) "as your father in Heaven is perfect." Soooo cool.
