Patching advice- newbie

Hi.

My copy of this game is arriving tomorrow- I haven't played it before and would like to get it patched to the latest version before I do. I don't have an internet connection at my home so I need to do it manually. I see there are patches available up to 1.05.

Can anyone tell me if I need to install any of the earlier patches before I install 1.05?, or can I just install the game, install 1.05 and come up smiling?

All you gotta do is install the game, and use the 1.05 patch exe. Yes, it hass all the patches up to 1.05 included.

You cannot manually install past that because Ironclad has their upcoming 1.1 protected by you have to go online with Impulse to download it. Yes, I understand it's a pain, but you just have to connect once to download and install the 1.1 patch coming out soon. Think of it this way, you don't have to connect every few days to verify your install.

A quick question about this Impulse software- if this updates my game, (and I may have misunderstood your point), does that mean that I need to have an internet connection on the same computer that I have the game installed in order to get any further updates? Or can I install Impulse on another machine, get the patch and then install it on my games pc?

It might be beneficial to look into getting a Hub (with uber long Ethernet Cable) or a Wi-Fi router (with reciever).

I definitely suggest getting in touch with the support via support@stardock.com, but I believe you could update from another computer by installing Impulse and then choosing "Download and Archive" (see http://www.impulsedriven.com/help/my_tabs.htm#6_6Archiving_&_Other_Options). Then take that archived copy (via DVD or USB drive, etc.) to the computer you are playing on and install that archive (via Impulse, so still need to get a copy of that onto the computer you'll be playing on).

If that's the case then that would be ideal. I will get in touch with stardock and see what they say.
