France has decided to ban the Muslim veil in French schools in order to unite the multi-ethnic students. As two girls refused to respect the new law, they got expelled from the school they attended.
When I asked to a friend what she thought about that, she said “well France can make foreigners respect their rules and if the foreigners are not happy, well they might as well leave. When French women go to Arabic countries they wear veils to show their respect don’t they?” Hum, no, they wear bikinis and sunbathe…
I could understand her point, but I still felt a bit shocked about how she stated it.
Mmh, ok. So by standardizing you are supposed to unite. I don’t really think it is a good thing. I think it is a shame that we have to live in a world where everybody dresses the same and has to think the same to fit in the mould that is society.
Why can’t we encourage each other differences and still remain tolerant?
The French keep trying not to combine “Muslims” with “Terrorrists”. How can they teach their kids not to make this mistake when the little muslims at school look and speak just like them whereas the mean bad Muslims shown on TV wear a veil and speak funny? How can they teach their children that being different doesn’t necessarily mean being bad?
