American Trash

Or, an English Eye for the queer American guy(s)

If you complain about the price of gas while driving to the Greenpeace Rally in a monstrous SUV... you might be American Trash.

If you spend 30 minutes driving around the parking lot (in the same SUV) looking for a space nearest the gym... you might be American Trash.

If you spend hundreds of dollars on home gym equipment and dietary supplements and then eat at McD's everyday... you might be American Trash.

If the first thing you do after a minor fenderbender is call your attorney, if the second thing you do is call your therapist, if the third thing you do is bitch to both about the cost of the other, before getting out of the car... you might be American Trash.

If you think spam is a meat... you might be American Trash.

If you think politics is constituted by 'the average guy gap', 'the security mom gap', and 'debates' in which the 'debators' say the same things over and over while being 'moderated' by a news anchorman... you might be American Trash.

If you won't go out and buy your kid an icecream from the icecream truck on a hot Sunday afternoon unless your neighbours are doing so... you might be American Trash.

If you think the appearance of one small brown breast on the SuperBowl halftime is a National Catastrophe... you might be American Trash.

If you think Hollywood movie stars make insightful political commentary... you might be American Trash.

If you think the Daily Show is in-depth reporting, if you think Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore are political commentators, and finally, if you think Al Sharpton is a politician... you might be American Trash.

Emp, this was good.  I have noticed the same things, particularly the parking space issue.  It never ceases to amaze me how far people will go to avoid having to walk an extra 20 feet.

In a previous blogging incarnation on JU (as 'apollyon exterminans') I wrote an article entitled the 'Niggerization of Amerika' in which I made a distinction (totally missed by those who read it) between Americans who have black skin, Africans, the entirely mythical creature referred to as an 'afro-american', and niggers. Just like myself, my wife has more than sufficient intellectual equipment to understand that distinction, whereas the majority of those who blog here do not.

So you're quite right, dabe. On this issue at least, she and I are cut from the same cloth.

I'm English by birth, but I have made America my home of choice. As someone who came here carrying with him a culture which, while in some ways it resembles that of America is in actuality completely distinct from and alien to it, there are certain things I haven't been able not to notice about my new country.

Some of them are listed in this article. One that is not is the grotesque paranoia, self-deceit, rampant and universal hypocrisy, surrounding the issue of race here. Al Sharpton, that rabble-rousing, self-glorifying, self-seeking bigot and hate-monger, is a perfect example of that cant and hypocrisy.

He is not a politician - if by politician is meant one who seeks the public good through public service. He is a carpet-bagging opportunist, a liar, and a disseminator of racial hatred who serves only the interest of his bloated ego. Anyone who thinks such a despicable charlatan to be a politician is sufficiently intellectually challenged to be ranked along with nematodes and amoebae.

I'm happy to keep you on my blog, however. It's fun thrashing fools for their folly.

Emperor: This is hilarious! I love it! The driving around the parking lot (anywhere!) really gets me . . . grrrr . . . is it really that hard to walk the length of the parking lot before you spend half an hour walking around Wal-Mart or the grocery store? WTF?

Well thank you, Ms. Wahine. My enforced absence home-hunting here in Virginia, and becoming accustomed to a new work-routine, has kept me away from JU for awhile - but it's a temporary absence, and about to come to an end. After answering you I shall compose a new article (one of those esoteric, occult ones that no one ever comments on lol). And I shall be surfing the forums looking for interesting threads to get involved in once more.

While the subjects you write on are not those that principally interest me, I have read several of your articles - for the simple pleasure of reading well-written prose.

I understand the hypocrisy of the American culture.


One of the things I've come to understand about American culture, in its general outlines, is its absolute sincerity. Americans are not knowingly hypocrites. They are, generally speaking, the most honest, the most generous people, I have ever met.

White American culture is, however, riddled by the most ridiculous guilt over the issue of slavery. Black American culture is riddled by grotesque resentment over the issue of slavery. And both are handicapped by their inability to get over an issue which is dead, utterly irrelevant, and a source of much of the contempt and derision expressed by the rest of the world towards contemporary America.

You both need to grow up. Get over yourselves, and co-operate in the last great political dream remaining in the world. The dream of what America could be.
