For anybody who enjoys playing Sins and who also enjoys reading SciFi, you should pick up the books from the series The Lost Fleet by Jack Campbell.  Dauntless, Fearless and Courageous are already out.  It is a military scifi story - meaing that a lot of the plot involves around the changing strategy and tactics of the different star fleets and how the crews deal with everything.  Good stuff.

The universe is earily similar to the Sins world.  Jump lanes between gravity wells, different class of ships, etc.  The biggest difference is that the book fights in 3 dimensions while the Sins game really only fights in 2 dimensions [yes, I know that there is some Z-axis in formations but not really in fleet positions].  When I read the books I can almost visualize the actual battles in the Sins engine...
