How many secondary computers can be controlled with the basic program

I have been running Multiplicity one one primary and one secondary for a month now and truly enjoy it -- I have had no problems unlike many people I have read on the forums.

I recently added a second, secondary computer. So, I know have 1 primary and 2 secondaries (each monitor is to the left and right of the primary) but for the life of me I cannot get both to work.

It seems strange, but no where can I find how many secondaries the basic application supports. I do see where it says on the Pro you can control up to 6? But I would think that the basic should allow at least 2 secondaries?

I have re-installed the applications on all the machines?

I need help?

If it does require the Pro, is there an upgrade you can get?

According to their FAQs, the standard version can control up to 2 secondaries, but it will not do it for me. I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, and now not only will it not control 2 secondaries, but it won't run at all because I have used up my product activations.

Just email stardock support to reset your activation count,once reactivated somewhere in the multiplicity folder you may find a sig.bin file,saving that to a rom or floppy may negate the need to reactivate unless you reformat,tho on occasion i've found reinstalling the sig.bin to icon packager fails to do what it's supposed to & a re-activation is still required,it's rather annoying when it's part of objectdesktop NT

As xscorpx said we at support@stardock.com can reset your activation count for you if need be.

The standard version of Multiplicity is only one other secondary machine. Two machines includes the primary and the secondary. The pro version allows for six total machines to be connected plus the primary for a total of seven. It also allows you to copy and paste between them. This is a huge advantage.

I made my purchase based on the material presented on the website and also the articles in the knowledge base. It now appears to me that earlier versions of Multiplicity could control the primary and 2 secondaries, but now the product has been downgraded to only allow one secondary machine. There is still evidence that Multiplicity would allow 2 secondaries.

to control two additional PC's with the primary PC's keyboard and
mouse. Multiplicity Pro increases that to up to six secondary PC's AND

It would help if the main site clearly stated that the difference between Standard and Pro is that Standard will control the Primary Computer and One Secondary computer. Pro will control the Primary Computer and up to 6 secondary computers. In addition, the Pro version adds file and folder copy and paste between machines also.

The site doesn't state this one secondary computer limitation anywhere, and also the screen prints clearly show the ability to define a left secondary machine and a right secondary machine as being included in the standard version of the program.

From the screenshots: "Once you define the primary, it allows you to define left and right secondary machines (custom interface for those with more than 3 machines)."

edit: (I see that in the comparison chart, the text "(1 secondary)" has been added today.)

I now have Multiplicity Pro. It controls all three of my computers flawlessly. I couldn't be happier.

Multiplicity standard will control ONLY 2 computers, the primary and ONE secondary.

Multiplicity Pro controls the primary and up to 6 secondaries. Pro also adds file copy between machines.

I recommend Multiplicity Pro.
