A little game of name-that-book, anyone?

I recognize a number of these, but can't dredge up where they're from. I know I can use Google to cheat it, but I'll play fair:

Rakoth Maugrim: Fionavar Tapestry (Guy Gavriel Kay)
Severian: Book of the New Sun (Gene Wolfe)
Pelbar etc.: The Pelbar Cycle? (Paul O. Willaims)
Marid Audran: When Gravity Fails? (Effinger?)
Valley Forge and Rodger Young: Starship Troopers (Heinlein)
space habitat Goddard: One of the Culture novels by Iain M. Banks? Or is it a Ben Bova creation?

That's all I can recall.

Anyone remember Teela Brown? How about Linden Avery?

The habitat Goddard I was referring to was in both Saturn and Titan by Ben Bova... haven't read any Banks yet, but I definitely want to.

Well the worlds largest carousel in the house on the rock is in the wonderful novel American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

Shylock I don't recall (unless you're talking Shakespeare's A Merchant of Venice), but Seldon's from the Foundation series.

Linden Avery reminds me of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever by Stephen R. Donaldson. I think she was a character in the latter books of the series.

Sadly, these are the only ones I recognize at a glance from a series by Sara Douglass. I believe that the first book in the saga was called "The Wayfarer Redemption" but these guys did not appear until later in the series, like book 4 or so.
