Remember the freakin' sweet animations Homeworld and Homeworld 2 had? The construction process, docking process, and even the resource harvester all had their own animations. The ships would actually land inside or on different objects.
Sins seemed to have just left this out (for simplicity's sake, I'm sure) and it's the only thing that pulls me out of the deep experience that is SOASE. For example when trade ships dock at the trade post, they just sit outside. I suppose the contents they carry are being "beamed" into the ship wirelessly.
And when the huge cap ships are being built, it looks cool as the wireframe is filled in with textures, but as soon as it's done, it's popped out in a two-frame animation. Just a bit tacky, but I have no clue the amount of work that would take to do.
Also, I'd like to see a corvette class that can board and dock ships (like Homeworld. I know, I just loved that game!). That way you can commandeer the enemies ships (not cap ships, of course).
Also I'd love more of an RPG feel with the basic units. If you've ever played Company of Heroes you'd understand where I'm coming from. Each unit (or squad) can gain levels and extra HP with experience. I'd like to have an elite set of Javelin Missle launchers that I'd had since the beginning of the game.
I know my wants and needs are opinionated and many of you may find them completely unnecessay, but I'm just the kinda guy who really gets sucked into games and the slightlest things that take me out of the experience bugs me.
