the sausage sense of humour

Do you laugh when people fall over ?.

If you do, it's likely that you suffer from an affliction I term 'the sausage sense of humour'. (So named for its' symptoms of causing one to laugh at things that make others look at one as if perhaps one is demented. Or maybe something worse).

The word 'sausage' should not be allowed in decent conversations. My persistently puerile sense of humour announces me as the goose that I am via my honking with laughter at the mere mention of the word.

Not only is this embarrassing, but, as an Australian, it severely limits my enjoyment of the primary summer social activity - the barbecue.

I cannot for the life of me compose a lucid reply to a man clad in a apron who asks me if I would like a sausage, and if the question is phrased in a way as to enquire whether I might require multiple sausages, I become so paralyzed with mirth as to render myself near unintelligible.

My husband just has to point at the sausages in the butchers window to set me off, sometimes.

And don't even get me started on what I do when people trip over in the street ...

I must have a weiner sense of humor, because instead of sausage, weiner is the word that makes me laugh.

This reminds me of one of my favorite lines from the Simpsons. Moe says it after falling for another prank phone call from Bart.

Listen, you, if I ever get my hands on you, I'm gonna shove sausages down your throat and hungry dogs up your butt!

And yes, I, too, laugh when people fall over!

Ahhhh.....reminds me of a medical condition my wife has, it's called collapsable-legs-chipmunk-laughitis......it can attack at any time, bad spells can last up to an hour. You never know what will set it off or when....Science may never find a cure.

mig: As you might have guessed, I too share your disease. No fart goes unlaughed at, no hairstyle unridiculed. At a recent Army-related barbeque, my seven year old boasted loudly, while eating a hotdog, that he had a huge weiner and asked others to look at his weiner! He finds this very funny . . . it seems it is genetic.

hehe, I'm the same Mig, I have that humour. I have a friend, who I used to have silly arguments with. Both of us were to pig headed to take the first step to apologise to each other. So we made a deal that when we had one of these silly arguments, and we both realised it, instead of sayin sorry we would just say sausage to each other, and it really worked! You can cure anything with a smile!
