Frigate Spam

What i mean by that is this :



Bet you thought i meant siege frigates eh?

Thats 87 cobalts,and he didnt stop there,he went well over 100 before he finally decided he had enough spam to attack me with.Wouldn't be such a problem,but 9/10 fleets the AI sends at me consist of 2-4 caps and 50+ basic frigates.

It's not unbalancing or anything,i can deal with it easily,but you guys put all those nice ships in game and the AI insists on spamming the same basic frigate over and over again (

I've seen it do that before as well. Not that often, but it happens.

People are doing the same exact thing in multiplayer too..

IMO i think frigs should use up a lot more supply or something, or research should be cheaper.

It seems much better to spend money on frigates than anything else.

Why spend tens of thousands on researching increased resource income when you can spend that on frigates to take over a bunch of players, for example?

INNOCIV! Hey man.

Yeah, this game is really a frigate spam fest against a computer. Most of the time the computer just sits in one spot and builds up on the most basic frigate to attack with. It would be nice if frigates were more expensive.

I'd say the best way to fix this is to make bombers good against all sorts of frigates and give capital ships/cruiser carriers more hangar space while increasing the cost for all ships.

This game is really good but the only downside is the frigate spam.

I'd say the best way to fix this is an improved AI

A human player can counter either by being aggressive -- use carriers to raid his systems, fun trick -- or by using your defenses well (repair centers can keep you ships alive a long time used properly, combine this with some form of AoE and you can really do a number on a spam).

Do the effects of a repair station stack with other ones in a system? Like if I have two, does that mean my ships get repaired at double the speed or something?

Thats because there are many different ships in the game, but only 1 basic attack frigate, and tahts the Cobalt for TEC, and only 1 basic attack cruiser..
The rest of the ships are specialized support ships, for instance a fleet of 50 shield draining support cruisers with a laser dmg of 4 wouldnt do much good now would it?

Except that there's more than one basic attack frigate Most missile frigate research is pretty early in the tech tree (heck, Vasari get them with one lab and no prereqs), so

Thats pretty much the reason i posted,i'd just like to see the AI make some mixed (and more challenging) fleets instead of throwing blob after blob of frigates at me.It just gets boring dealing with the same thing all the time. (
