Kill XXX Ships or Destroy XXX buildings why and other annoyances!

Im finding this kinda annoying but why give me missions to do things when i haven't even seen
that enemy yet. For all i know that enemy could be at the other end of the star system!

Why get annoyed at me when i don't do the mission? , surelly they should ask me to ACCEPT or DENY the request?.. Can i not ask them to do missions , if not why?

How can i request money , metal or crystals from then?

Getting kinda miffed at the game if all im doing is damn chores for everyone else that half the time i don't know where they are!

 Seconded (or thirded), whatever. Honestly this's probably the most annoying thing I have with the game by far. Playing with 10 players and you can imangine how annoying it is to constanly hear the AI jarring these stupid non-sense requests when giving request and when the request is not fullfilled. (and who fullfill them anyway, giving your enemy these resource request from the beginning is like digging your own grave)


Neat idea, but implementation is out of whack. If this system is to help manipulating the Diplomacy statistic, I think it will be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (long enough?) better to do it dynamically and automatically. Like you get point for attacking common enemy, you get point if you give resource to that player ...etc... mroe than that I think there is nothing that can not be done with the already existing bounty system. Why do we need sone sort of mission system to do something that can be done automatically, it's more like an excuse to let the AI be super ego beggar.  


Like I said the idea is neat, but needs to make more sense. Like making the request more specific and meaningful. I.E capital ships has names right, a good mission will be the AI give you a task to destroy a specific named ship and then reward you approriately, that will make a nice challange like a hunt for treasure, and something that a player (or myself at least) consider worthy to pay attention to.

I have that problem right now. Like 3-4 factions want me to attack another faction. Unfortunatly they are not in my system and there are 4 more systems which i have not not explored yet. I can't even get to them as i have not done the research so i am going to loose reputations with those factions now. I still love this game. Hope this gets fixed.

Agreed, if this is going to be the total interaction with the other races, it needs to be way less annoying. My fleets are busy enough protecting my empire, thank you very much, to be doing odd jobs for everyone else every 10 minutes.

Thanks for the replies and glad im not the only one none to pleased with this..... Yes i love the eye candy but due to some annoyances like this i still prefer galactic civilization..


Its just a stupid design , why give another alien race a mission that is not your ally or your friend , its bloody crazy. Allies should ask if you would like to do a mission which you can deny if you want. Races that are on 0% requesting me to do missions , why the hell should i?

Sort it out plz

while i usually just ignore most of the ai requests (the unreasonable ones that want to send me halfway across the star system), i have found that it's really worthwhile to accomodate the requests that are convenient. one faction in particular was pestering me for metal and credits, of which i had plenty to spare, and i ended up allying with them. without this cease fire, i probably wouldn't have won the game.

You must have encountered the AI at some point.  They won't give missions to strangers.  Perhaps your scout dropped in while you weren't looking

It works the other way around - you have to earn their friendship. They aren't interested in your needs, they want someone taken out so they will request for assistance. If you can prove to them that you are useful, they will consider becoming your ally. As you please them more and more, they will agree to more treaties. You can even start bossing them around if they are happy enough with you. Ultimately, you can win the game with allies if you can keep them until the end.

Yes i love the eye candy but due to some annoyances like this i still prefer galactic civilization..


If you remember way back, there were a lot of problems with that at first too. The key point is stardock is VERY active with updates and improvements....this game will evolve into a great one just like galciv did (it didn't start that way....plenty of annoyances).
I think part of the reason it is so great is because stardock's superior interaction with customers allowed it to evolve the way customers wanted.

The problem is that the IA keeps asking us to attack factions we cannot reach in time! Even asks us constantly to attack our allies that's stupid (some ennemi asking to attack an ally!)

thats actualy good(fact he is asking to attack your ally when you are at war with him)
that means he is desperate and hoping you would help him

now what i would like instead of this would be an actual ceasefire offer(ceasefire atm is set more as alliance )

When the AI asks you to do something, it seems like they ask an awful lot of you. 14 Tactical Structures? 15 ships? Should be more like 1 structure just to say you're helping to put the pressure on an enemy, not "Hey buddy, would you glass this system for me? I'll give ya some crystals..." every 10 minutes.

Also, today I was literally in the middle of bombing an Advent world, when they chime in telling me if I want their aid I need to do such and such. That kinda shattered the immersion for me, and the way it's just on a timer like that kinda takes away from the whole thing.

You can request them to attack places and aid you, they have almost the same ambivalence with it too. Generally, I have a fleet stationed at a key planet (one that is linked to two others for easy jump/defending) however, there have been countless times when the Hard AI would assist me when I placed a ping (they would at times drag their fleet from one side of the system to the other). Having their whole fleet show up to aid you in sieging/defending? That's worth it.

But yeah, it would be nice to request resources from them too but aren't the missions almost the same thing?

Perhaps I am just use to Rome Total War's random quests that made little sense that I ignored half the time.

Peace treaty = more of an alliance
Cease fire = can be broken at any time without rammifications.

I find the requests irritating as well.. if you could flat out mute some of them, or deny the request straight out, that would be nice.

I agree with the things said so far. Honestly "diplomacy" in beta seemed more realistic than now.

Missions: Nice idea but far too many problems at the moment. Especially in large games (5-7 AI in one system) AI's will give you missions you can only fulfill by stomping with your fleet through another empire only to destroy 4 civil buildings and then retreat again.
Missions are cool but as of now they are just replacing are realistic diplomacy system with something that dosn't work out well.

Faction Display: Eliminated Factions are still displayed and you can still give them resources. They should be taken out of the list or their names should be at least greyed out. Clicking on them while checking missions is annoying.
Also it would be nice to state the race of the faction. Pictures don't do.

Faction Disposition: This is solely based on missions and few event. You break peace with a 100% faction, they stay 100%. Even when I started attacking them. Only when I bombarded their planet the disposition drops.
Disposition shoul not start with 0%. None of the three races are Xenephobic, at least they shouldn't when meeting factions of the same race.

Gifts: I pumped tens of thousands of resources into several factions and the don't give a shit about. I expect that at least friendly factions can be influenced a bit with resources (other than missions).

Underdog factions who get pounded by their enemies shouldn't assign missions to you but give you stuff to bribe into helping them.

Requests: One sided diplomacy just don't work for me. Especially in multiplayer games it would be a blast to have the possibility to formulate requests from other players via the diplo screen instead of typing: "Give me 20000 credits or i will pwn you with 4 Kols!!!"

Also, how do I get my allied AI's to help in my attacks or if I am getting attacked ?

We will be continuing to update the diplomacy and mission system (some balancing changes coming very soon), its quite difficult to do in a real-time game but I'm hearing some more good ideas here. Remember its already much more extensive than most RTS games - certainly not as comprehensive as Total War or GalCiv II but we don't feel that something that is playable in real-time.

I also feel a lot of people aren't realizing one of the best benefits of earning an AI's favor: bossing them around. This will also answer FrznMD's question. Once they are happy enough with you, you can select one of their planets or ships and you will see two buttons that allow you to ask them to attack or defend a specific planet. I've been behind in games but I managed to complete enough missions to earn an AI's favor and I was able, with his help to recover, rebuild and conquer!

I agree, this system needs some tweaks to it. I feel like i'm constantly being bullied and I dont have any power diplomacy wise.

I would like an option to decline missions or maybe just reduce the penalty for choosing to ignore them. Why cant they understand i'm too busy to accept your request but i'll help you later.

Personally I would like the system where you have to do more missions(you can choose to decline with no penalty) to gain favor but they dont get all pissy when you ignore it. Basically right now i'm feeling like the galactic bitch taking orders from everybody but having no say in what they do for me. I also really hate the childish attitude presented with the missions(do these missions or I wont be your friend anymore!). I hated that logic when I was a little kid and I hate it now. Other than that great game!

Edit: It could be that I have only played the game for one day and haven't figured everything out yet.

I wouldn't have a problem with the missions except for two issues:

1. They're 90% 'destroy so many of this'. What if I want to play economically? In battle I can soften the enemy because of pirates, but these missions make me go out myself before I'm necessarily ready. There's a single trade mission to start diplomacy off, then it's all attacking other AIs.

2. The AI seems to use them to distract me. I finally decide to do a mission, get them up to 30%... cool, ok. I get another mission, a tougher one needing more of my fleet to go into the other enemy territory. Ok, so I set up defensive structures and go in. While I'm mid-fight, I get an alert that I'm being attacked, and look back and see 15 siege frigates from the faction that gave me the mission pounding at one of my colonies. And as my defenses slowly wear them down, (rarely fast enough to save the planet, but that's another thread), all the disposition I earned from the earlier mission goes away too and I'm back to square one.

the enemy is almost ALWAYS sharing a border with you, a garuntee it.

Fobok, are you complaining that the AI outsmarted you??? lol. That's GOOD AI programming! lol, the cpu totally screwed u over and backstabbed you

they don't call it Sins for nothin'!

I can't wait to get this game!
