I Heart You Joes

This might sound like some sort of award acception speech...If so, the reward is our association.

Disclaimer: I'm writing this in the middle of the night, under the influence of Codeine (I have a headache & insomnia, so I thought I'd see what that pill could do for me).

I haven't been around here lately because "real life" has been taking over quite a bit. That's a good thing. But I do wish I could have internet access hard-wired to my head so I could talk with all of you as often as I think of you. You'd probably get sick of me, I think of you all so often!

When my lack of a real life was at its lowest point, Joe appeared and was a Godsend. I've needed this sort of outlet for at least the past 15 years. Thank you Brad for creating this brilliant site that attracts brilliant people. You all are so refreshing to talk with. Due to your fantastic writing, I know so many of you better than I know the people I associate with daily, and I even know you better than my own mother / father / brother / aunts / uncles / cousins / grandparents / in-laws! If I'd had Joe therapy from 1990 to the present I think my life would have taken a much more intelligent, confident course. Where were you all those years?!

Thank you Tonya for being you. You're a voice of reason, experience, depth, passion, faith, and although I'm horrible at keeping in touch over the internet (again, I wish I had a computer on me at all times so I could talk to you as often as I think of you), you've been a friend. Thank you for being here for me when I PCS'ed, even when I didn't expect or ask for someone for encouragement and comfort as I made the transition, you took time to write thoughtful emails to li'l ol' me. Since I don't get to be on the computer as often as needed to nurture virtual friendships, I worry you may think me unappreciative of your thoughtfulness and wisdom. Not so. Thank you, you're an amazing person. Oh, and not a bad writer either!

ForeverSerenity, Every. Single. Day, when I'm getting my daughter dressed, or as I go about my normal day and you come to mind, I want to give you a big hug and a glowing smile. You are such a sweet, thoughtful, optimistic person, in my heart I weep tears of gratitude and wish I'd thanked you more adequately and promptly for the enormous package of REALLY GORGEOUS baby clothes you sent when April was born. Again, I've been awful at maintaining on-line friendships, but if we were neighbors I'd consider myself the luckiest gal in the world to have the privilege of associating with you in person! You must really light up the lives of your friends, neighbors, family members, colleagues the way you light up everyone here at Joe User!

To Dharma who withholds nothing, who says it like it is, who was brutally honest with me awhile ago and put me in tears a couple times, then decided to forgive (or at least overlook / deliberately ignore) some of my opinions and life views that really bugged her. Then she threw our baby a Shower! What an amazing gal. To all of you who sent April gifts, she is still wearing your treasured gifts every single day. Thank you so much.)

Life-Happens who saved me from the echo-chamber-of-my-other-blog she found me at, Thank You! You're always getting showered with compliments from me for all your amazing-ness. You're the one person on Joe User (aside from your hubby & FIL, SIL) who I've met in real life. It's been so neat getting to know you more through your writing than I knew you (and you, me) at DLI. I could tell you were aching to burst the fetters that bound you into subdued living back then. How fun it is to be given glimpses into your life as you share your thoughts and accomplishments. You're one-of-a-kind, adventurous, intelligent, creative... Lazy is not a word that could ever describe you.

Brandie, you come up in lots of my daily conversations such as, "I didn't know that Hawaii has the largest PX in the world. Hey, I have an online friend who lives in Hawaii. She's so lucky!" Yes, I said that to a friend today, hehe. And I've referred to Isabella more than once as an example of babies who hit milestones at amazingly young ages, "She started walking at EIGHT MONTHS! Yes, and she's saying words too! Isn't that incredible? Aren't babies awesome?"
And of course you're so much more than that too. You've brought more than one snicker to me as I recall some of the things you've written. Your sense of humor, wit, clever writing, experience...you're a joy to know. Oh, and I had two dreams about you a few months ago. I'll email you about it if you want, but brace yourself.

I'm getting sleepy now. For now, let it suffice to say that if I've ever left a comment on your blog, you have a place in my mind & heart.

Angela...don't ever worry about me thinking anything negative about you...heh.  I consider you one of my pals and it takes ALOT to change my mind....not emailing and writing/responding blogs is NOT something that will do it.

I admire your commitment to your family, your faith, and your desire to grow.

I joined JU two years ago and like you, so glad I did.  I was thinking this morning...my oldest turns twelve next month...which immediately made me think about the babies here on JU...Jill's, yours, Tex's, John's.  It's an incredible journey watching people grow as parents, and looking at the pictures of their children.  It is amazing to me.  And in some small way it makes me feel connected to their family...which is such a gift.

You are an interesting vibrant woman.  I am glad to know you and hope we can do face to face someday.

Thanks for telling us all how awesome these JUers are. I mean, we already knew, but it's always good to have someone else tell them. Mostly so they'll stick around more, and maybe osmosis will make us awesome too.

I think it's really nice to remember and thank people, especially those who aren't going to mention the things they do themselves (or don't even know they're doing them, heh). Great article!

Angela,

I have read your blogs since you first showed up on JU, and I am absolutely stunned at the personal growth you have displayed. Your writing style has become strong, assertive, and complex, and from what you have written, it appears that is reflective of changes in your life as well.

As one who absolutely loves the JU community as well, I have to say thanks for the recognition. But you deserve a lot of recognition yourself for the changes you've undertaken.

Continue to amaze us.

Wow, I'm so moved by your words Angela, that is very nice of you to say. I've been a big fan of yours from day one and still am. I enjoy reading you and hope that soon you can get back to writing more often. I'm glad you and family are doing well!
