I did it. I got up the courage to look inside. Here's what I saw (and here's my response to the items)

Wow. The first one looks like a turtleneck sweater that first shrank in the wash, and then someone took a pair of scissors to it. It's impractical. Serves no function. I wouldn't waste my time knitting it.
The second....well, I'm still trying to decide if it's a hat or a helmet or a silver wig. Personally, I don't know anyone who would wear this. Then again, I don't know and NY or LA club kids.
Now the third one I LOVE. It's fitted, it has texture...it's lovely. I'd make it - and I'd wear it.

I LOVE me some flip-top mittens. They're practical and relatively easy to make. Again, I'd make AND wear these ones.
I'm not a HUGE fan of cropped, school-boy-esque knitted vests and lime green long cabled vests, but these ones aren't bad. In fact, I like all of the patterns in this row.

First of all, the model in these photos looks like she needs to out down the crack pipe, eat a cheesburger and get out in the sun for a few hours.
Now that I've got that off my chest, let's move on to the patterns/photos. The first one looks like a maternity sweater - either that or someone's felting went badly wrong (felting is where you knit an article in wool, making it much bigger than needed, and then wash it in hot water until it's shrunk down and all the little microscopic hooks in the wool have locked together, making the fabric more dense. Once something is felted, it's felted forever). Not something that I'd make.
Secondly: Call me a child of the 80's, but I always have time for an oversized V neck sweater. I'm not sure about this one, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the model looks like a whore who never met a crack pipe she didn't like.
Third: I like the sweater, but why is she zipping up her pants?

1) I'm ambivalent about knitted dresses. I like the idea, but in practice it's not such a good idea. This first dress reminds me of a dress I made for my Barbie when I was about 8.
2)I ADORE this suit, but I don't like that it's knitted. If it were made out of a nice tweed or a wool FABRIC, then it would be perfect. Knitted? Not so much.
3) Hate it. For no particular reason other than it's shapeless, made out of mohair and is not-such-a-nice shade of blue.

Numero uno: it's a knitted, backless, lace-up dress. What's not to hate? (although I do like the color)
Deux: Is this another felting accident, or is the model wearing her daughter's sweater?
Trois: I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to be. Is the shirt knitted with a fabric vent/vee in the back? Is the vent/vee knitted and the shirt fabric? Is it another maternity shirt? Curious minds want to know.....
All in all, it's not the WORST knitting magazine I've ever seen, but that helmet on the cover does nothing for the few sweet patterns that are on the inside. I give it a 6/10, and that's being generous.
