the last one standing

I'm in the final stretch of my work at the Theatre. I've completed my original contract, was asked to work for the Centre for Indigenous Theatre (Toronto) for 3 weeks, and have agreed to carry on an extra week with my original employer. I'm relieved that it's almost over, though not glad, simply because unemployment and all that bullshit is looming, without a bright light in sight.

It's hard remaining at work with a person I don't really get along with, professionally. As a person, I admire what she has been able to do, but as an employee, I can't help but shake my head at her methods of operation. Turns out, she is just going to push on solo, and because of a 'lack of funding' will not employ anyone to take my place. I've heard her second office will probably be left for Grad students, and that her position within the department is tenuous at best.

She's approached the idea of contracting me for production work only. I appreciate the gesture, but really do need something more stable. I've heard that I'm spoken about favorably, so if I wanted to continue on in the same stream, I'd probably do all right, though a career in the arts is not very lucrative, at least in this area.

I don't know where I'm going or what the future may be, as far as a job goes. I'm sure I can get another one fairly quickly, but it would be just that... a job. I need a career, something that will interest me, excite me, and challenge me, which is one of the reasons why I'm in the current state that I'm in now.

Professionally, life sucks, but my love life is actually coming along...

And on the homefront, Kole and I are just fine. I don't wanna jinx it, but 9 is great. Seriously.
