Jagged Knife and Canadian flag

I was just near the end of a D.A. game when that wonderful "Jagged Edge" mega-event occurred. What surprised me, however, was the flag assigned to the Jagged edge - it was the Canadian flag! I've only had the Jagged Edge event occur in a couple of games but never saw this before.

Does this mean the people at Stardock do not like we Canadians, making us into mobsters? Are other country's flags also used by the Jagged Edge?

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this little "Easter Egg"?

You're just paranoid.

Firstly, you must have added the Canadian flag with an addon pack, as I don't think it's in the files originally.

Secondly, the Jagged Edge are a bit buggy, as they seem to use a random flag every time they show up in my game. It even goes so far as that the flag they use is their diplomacy screen in my games.

Short answer: It's random.

Actually, the Canadian, American, EU and many other country's flags are in the stock flag files, though they aren't STRICT representations of the source material. The good ol' maple leaf, for instance, is in the center of a red and white CIRCLE instead of a red and white triangle.

I've had them appear twice; both times they used the German-style flag. I didn't know they were variable. The first time, I think my wife heard me yelling "Oh no, you did NOT just take the Sudetenland!" That was a little embarrassing...

It doesn't really need them as Windows is usually configured with at least a country code.

Obviously Stardock's fears of an interstellar empire of Canuckistan are reflected here.
Or it's just totally random. My Jagged Knives always get that silly handshaking flag for some reason.

rayadrel, it is true that we are planning to take over and we're doing it by putting mind altering substances in the Tim Horton's coffee that everyone is now buying

Actually, I just thought it was funny to see a "real world" flag in the game.

There are actually a number of flag-based empire logos in the game (not in 1.0, but any patched version will have them). They aren't used by any of the core/minor raes that I'm aware (besides this, which is probably just random as others have commented) of but you can pick them for customs.

Everyone knows that the blood-thirsty people of Canadia like to have jagged bits on the blades of their skates so they can use the blood of innocents for warmth in their Igloos. That's what happened to poor office Glen I bet.

I wouldn't blame them for not wanting what usually passes for beer in the U.S., but I'm a homebrewer. Even when I play as the Korath, nobody in my empire drinks that stuff. Not even in the torture chambers. If the JK were Canadian, they would probably trade weapon techs for my beer. Maybe even hockey tickets...

The bloodthirsty people of Canadia would use it to tenderize their victims so there is less chance of the jagged bits of their skates getting dulled
