Disappointed by the "new" "features" of Object Desktop

ControlCenter, Virtual Desktops & Tab Launchpad

I'm one of those who has been an enthusiastic user of Object Desktop fo many many years - since before it existed for Windows.

Just recently I have been forced to rebuild XP Professional and decided to get hold of a ZIP file with all my products archived. What a ********* mess!

* I HATE products which assume I'm some kind of moron who knows bugger all about computers, and tries to force me to install absolutely everything on C: Not only that but on just C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\, then restores my products once per invocation, so that for every single product I have to carefully edit the install path.

I have been using ControlCenter and TabLaunchpad for so long now that I find it very difficult to live without them, but crap is served up now!

* ControlCenter - Why am I not allowed to have CC at the RIGHT of my screen, where I've always had it before? At the left, just in case nobody noticed, it covers a mass of icons.

* ControlCenter - Why am I not allowed to have disk meters for the partitions on my second HDD? They're displayed as browse targets, so OD at least knows about them.

* ControlCenter - Why am i forced to have a 12-hour clock? The old CC at least gave me a choice.

* TabLaunchpad - I used to be able to specify certain applications to show on all desktops. Now TLP is only available on the desktop that was active when it started - and not always there. The whole point of TLP is to be able quickly to start an application from WHEREVER I happen to be. It loses most of its usefulness if I have to take special action to retrieve it first, THEN choose the product I want. I might as well reboot between applications!

Is there any way I can get the old ControlCenter back?

Mine's on the right - where I just now put it - did you undock and drag it to the right? and how would any notice it covers a mass of icons on your computer. Doesn't matter where I put it, I got no icons showing on the desktop.

I'm now using a 24hr clock. did you go into editor and replace the special with a regular clock? then configure it for 24hr?

so, the set the path for installation in SDC settings didn't work?

OK, thanks Bichur for your quick reply. I did try dragging CC, but it wasn't easy to find a grabbable handle. So now I have it on the right.

I found the clock, too. Is there anything like the "old" one? Plain text isn't too exciting. And anyway I seem to have put too many things on CC - the clock is there, but shows just off the bottom of the screen. Or is there some way of reducing the size of the virtual desktop images? I want them displayed vertically, but would be happy if they were a bit thinner.

Is there any way to restrict the stuff above the VDs selectively? The floppy and the optical devices don't really need to be there, nor My Documents and Shared Documents.

I have to ask if you have tried the new ObjectBar? It has many of the same features of control center but allows you to do much more.

i think the dtx clock widgets work in CC - try one of those

you can add and remove elements in the editor

My Tab LaunchPad behaves oddly!

If I left click on an icon it opens a change icon window - I have to right click/open to open a programme??
