I'm not going to waste time and space with other people's comments and thoughts about why President George W. Bush is urging the GOP, and the nation (the U.S.A.) for that matter, to focus on the economy. Why should I bother with that when there are any number of competent individuals, as well as some completely incompetent individuals that will dissect that position for you?
What I will say is that President Bush and his economic team have worked literally wonders with the U.S. economy given the best (I would say in many times the worst) efforts of the Federal Reserve to worry first and foremost about inflation, even if it means killing the housing boom, or in other ways poking holes in what bubbles they perceive in the economy.
First Greenspan, and now his replacement Bernanke, both of whom have fretted over inflationary pressures even as they implement economic policy and money tightening to pull back the growth in the housing market, and in other areas of the economy. How we continue to see near record growth, relatively low unemployment, record revenues coming into the federal (and most states) government is beyond some people.
Those people bitch and moan and use misleading article titles to suck readers into hatchet pieces that serve to do nothing but attack and blame President Bush, even in areas where there is NOTHING TO BLAME and everything to celebrate.
Some people will never be happy. Tell them the sky is blue and they'll start arguing that the atmosphere is clear just so they can argue or denigrate the person that made the first statement. Such is the case with many on the left, or those that claim not to be, but continue to demonstrate to the world that they're sitting right beside Teddy Kennedy and his friends on that side of the aisle. Until there's a leftist at the helm spending tax money like it is going out of style, raising the minimum wage and killing off jobs on the lower end of the scale (which, by the way, would already be happening if the left hadn't decided that extending cuts in the inheritance tax was just too hard a pill to swallow), they'll just keep on bitching.
Hopefully they'll do it without readership as their words aren't worth the virtual space they are occupying. If they were on printed paper I might line my bird cages with them so the birds crap wouldn't be as noticable amongst the other crap on the page, but c'est la vie.
