Yes, they are!
raised pitbulls for the longest time, and I was always amazed by the power of their hind legs and how they can twist themselves into pretzels, sounds like boxers and pits have this much in common. |
We had an Ammerican Staffordshire terrier (they're the genetic cousin of a pitbull) and yes, she was a lot like Gracie.
Lol, Ceasar does the bean-thang too, and I agree it's adorable! (yes, i am falling in love with him in spite of my initial reluctance to keep him at all.) |
Oh, I'm so glad that you've seen it! I was wondering how I could explain it to you! It's a powerful thing, isn't it? I simply cannot help but smile and pet her when she does it, and even Dave melts when he sees it. Today when he came home from PT she bounded across the room to greet him and 'beaned' all around his feet as he was petting her...I haven't seen him smile that big over a dog in a long, long time.
I'm glad your new addition is working out...how does Henry get along with her? |
They do pretty well together. They play hard, and there have been times when Grace has wanted to play and Henry hasn't so he's growled and bared his teeth at her, but those have been few and far between. Henry's taught her how to do 'crackerdawg' and they race around the house together. All in all, they've done better than I had expected.
Hah, my sister's boxer is the same way, I am so getting one soon. |
They're awesome dogs. I think that we're going to be boxer dog people for life now.
I got confused for a second... I thought maybe you were talking about Chihuahuas |
Ha! No, and we don't feed them beans either; they're gassy enough as it is. I thought that Henry was bad until Gracie came along - we've nicknamed her 'Gassy McFart-a-lot' because she poots all the time.
The more you write about Gracie, the more I realise how much I know about boxers, even though I haven't had one for about 30 odd years. They are just one of the best dogs you can have in your life |
I've learned so much as well....and if you'd care to share your boxer knowledge with me, I'd be happy to listen to what you have to say!! You're right about them being the best dogs; Dave and I have decided that boxers are the perfect dogs for us. They're just excellent canines; they have wonderful characters and personalities. Getting Gracie was one of the best things we ever did.
