How to make them STFU

So I live in this "ghetto" here in New Caledonia. Nothing like the 'banlieus' in France, but similar idea. A big pack of concrete where they stock social cases. Heh!

It's often hard to sleep, music too loud, drunks, mishivieous trouble makers, you name it.

The other Sunday morning at around four in the morning was really agressive to someone who likes to sleep in like me. There were two local guys, totally drunk I presume. They were driving this car as if it was a rallye or something. The tires were screaming on the road it was really the wake up call by excellence.

Then they started shouting from the top of their lungs that they were 'kanakys', that this was their land, and that screw us strangers. Well you get the picture they were insulting us. I was trying to sleep, my Mum sighed and my Dad groaned. There's nothing you can really do with these jerks except call the police (but when they arrive they're gone so why waste a phone call) or wait til they look for another neighborhood to disturb.

Then all of a sudden we heard a glass-crashing noise and the shoutings ceased. For a couple of seconds, which was followed by a nasty:
"Who the f*ck tried to stone me whith a bottle??? F*ck you!!!"

Haha, shoot, they missed him, i thought while laughing quietly in my pillow.

But then they left. And I did sleep in, hehe! In the morning we heard that the police actually stopped them and that they had stole that car. So they did their job and good on them

But yeah the stoning with a bottle thing? Maybe we should have aiming classes, lol, jks!

Good story. At least they weren't the ones throwing them through your windows or something!

also good to keep police out of neighborhoods too.

Now that's an idea, lol!!! I wouldnt want to kill anyone though, I just want them to leave...
also good to keep police out of neighborhoods too.

Naughty! Heh, we need these guys, it's hard enough to get them anywhere near us, so when they're actually there let them do their job.

I sympathise with you. We live in a area where a lot of English backpackers stay. They think nothing of singing and shouting at the top of their lungs at 4 in the morning when the rest of us have to get up and go to work the next day. It is really annoying and ignorant of them but like you, there is really not a great deal we can do.

Maybe throwing things at them might work. Hmm, I'll have to try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've never had the problem of people singing and shouting at four in the morning, but when I lived in Los Lunas, New Mexico, we had a cat that would always come screeching around about two in the morning.
We had a neighbor we were really good friends with, James. He had recently purchased a soft air gun and decided to put it to use one night, from the window of our apartment.
I've never heard anything yelp so loud. I felt really bad, but James really enjoyed himself. And it was a soft air pistol, so probably no damage done. But at least the cat left us the hell alone, right?

On another topic - everytime he would catch couples going at it in our pool, he would pull out the soft air pistol again . . . wicked.

You could get a recording of police sirens and then stick you player up to the window and crank it and yell "I called the cops on you scumbags!"

OR

You could get a recording of a vicious sounding dog and crank it up....then say in a false "falsetto." "That's them boy the ones making all the noise. ATTACK!"

Buwhahahah.

OF course then you might not be able to sleep from laughing so hard.

Mason has a good idea.  I would be leery of th egun as it might be mistaken for a real one and someone might shoot back (cats usually dont).  Or the recordings like Tova mention.

Oh yeah, the CATS, lol. There are heaps of cats in the neighborhood too, and when it's mating season I can tell you it's very noisy, lol!

Not at all. I don't need anyone to influence my bad behaviour. I'm quite capable of being bad all by myself. I just appreciate your suggestions.

The funny thing is that the tag line reads Canberra, which is the nation's capital and is home to a Corroboree Park (there are quite a number called this in Australia) and then goes on to talk about Darwin, which is nowhere near Canberra. Oh, well, at least they got the country right.
