I work for a tour operator. Which means the local travel agents are our clients. When a customer goes into a travel agency and asks for accomodation or tours overseas or such, the travel agent calls us and we offer different things that might respond to the customers demand.
Now, we have our 'regular' travel agents, those that like working with us. We usually are on good terms. But sometimes you can tell it's double faced. Example today.
Sheilagh works for Center Tours. Her boss Max, wants his travel agents to give us some business. But I think she doesnt like us. She called today sounding irritated about a quote my colleague prepared a week ago for a stay in Sydney for two adults and one child. Jayne (my workmate) had prepared a quote at an Apartments-hotel.
Now you should know that a one bedroom apartment is cheaper than a one bedroom apartment deluxe which features a study too. But in the case where you add one more person in the one bedroom apartment, it gets more expensive then having them staying in the one bedroom apartment deluxe.
Now it may sound illogical, but that's how this establishement operates. And Sheilagh who's been working in the industry for 30 years knows it.
But still she started barking at me on the phone saying it wasnt logical that we made mistakes. I didnt know what the quote was anyway so I asked her the length of the stay and the number of persons. And it got even worse, she was talking to me as if I was some dumb ass girls who didnt understand anything.
Since their office is across from ours she then brutally said, I'll just come over, as if to say you're getting on my nerves you stupid Emilia.
I was very calm, and told Jayne, lookout Sheilagh's coming and she sounds furious. So when she got here we calculated the quote in front of her explained ONCE MORE why the deluxe was cheaper than the regular.
I was trembling with anger but spoke as politely as I could when all I wanted to do was make her eat the calculator!!!
And then when she FINALLY understood she just sissed and stormed out. SHE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE!!!
That was around three in the afternoon, it's now four. I dont think she'll apologise. I cant stand her, I dont think i'll wave hello to her again, or be nice to her like I used to. I normally like to add a lot of pictures of the hotels when I do my quotes and send them off to the travel agents, but to her I've sent two today, and they were just plain. I also usually add things like 'have a nice day' or 'good luck' or such on my emails. But to her it was just QUOTE and my signature.
BITCH, i'm not gonna ass kiss to have your business, and the hell with what my boss thinks.
