changing colours revisited

Two quick questions...is there a way to colour just one elelment of a skin...with WB5? I have a skin I really like (Octane)as far as borders and such is concerned but the menu bars and window backgrounds are just too dark.

Now I'm guessing the only way to change these elements is SkinStudio. Can SS do it? Is the "trial" version time limited?
