display properties

just had to reformat my hard drive problem with a virus
re-loaded Object Desktop downloaded every thing I wanted to get my screen
back to how It was
I am useing OBJECTDOCK and ICON X and WINDOW BLINDS
But I now cannot open desktop properties and from the control panel DISPLAY
If I double click any of the icons on my screen they are very slow in opening
I am using XP and 512 MB of RAM

Wow. That could be a lot of things. Try this first: hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up the Windows Tak Manager. Click on the Processes tab and see what processes are running. There will probably be a lot of them because there's usually a lot of stuff going on in the backgroud of windows, but mostly they are very small, and don't take much in the way of resources. If you look next to each name you will see a column titled "CPU" and another one titled "Mem Usage". See if anything looks like it is eating up more than 1 or 2 percent of the CPU. You should see that System Idle Process is using around 90%. You may not see anything unusual, but that's a good place to start looking.
