Issues since Upgrade to Fences 6

Since I upgraded to Fences 6, all new made fences disappear after restarting PC. All icons which are added to former/old fences are kicked out of these fences after restarting and are on the Desktop. How can I fix this?

Windows 11 full version and OS Build numbers.
Was upgrading from which Fences version?
Did you recently turn on OneDrive Desktop Sync?

Perhaps since Fences 6 is using newer layout engine. But, first try the restore the old saved layout snapshots, if that don't work, most probably, you will need to manually rearrange all the icons back into its designated layout.

Also, it is recommended to use the "Store my layout on a per-monitor-configuration basis" refer screenshot below. Do this first before manually rearrange all your icons.

I am already using this: "Store my layout on a per-monitor-configuration basis"

It is not clear to me what you mean. After update to Fences 6 all old fences and icons in it remained as they were before.

But I cannot do anything new. If I create a new Fence, it is gone after restart. If I place icons in old/former Fence it is out of it after restart.

EDIT:

Just found out that it is not only with restarting PC. If I change a setting in "Layout" it immediately deletes all new Fences and drags Icons out of old ones.

Perhaps there something went wrong while you installing. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I did as described. First time after all done I restored my backup file for the Fences (from Fences 3). It did not work, same problem again. Even new Fences now created disapear.

I did second time as described. Not restoring old backup. When I now make new Fences the seem to stay.

My conclusion is that Fences 3 backup is not working in Fences 6 and even more worse make using it impossible.

Hi accrock, we found some issues with folks upgrading from Fences 3 who had some specific settings, and have a fix underway.

Can you try choosing a *different* option from this list, and then switching back to "Store my layout on a per-monitor-config basis"? This should resolve changes in settings not saving.

The version below should resolve the issue, including when restoring from backups

In the event it persists even with 6.0.5.3 (6.05 in the about tab), we can do some additional troubleshooting steps – but this should resolve it.

I had already made all my fences new manually before I read the last post...

But well, I tried it out anyway.

This did work out:

With doing this I could load the old Backup and it also works now.

I do not try installing new version.
