Multiplicity disconnect/reconnect to secondary after Windows 11 2025-05 update.

Hi,

After the Window 11 24H2 2025-05 quality update and .net update this week, M4 KVM started disconnecting from my secondary and losing the Ethernet connection on the primary totally and then reconnecting several seconds later.  It will then crash the Ethernet (and M4) again a few seconds to a few hours later.

I had this problem some months ago that was related to having Webroot installed, but I don't have it installed now.  FYI Webroot is still working to resolve the issue between their app and the Ethernet card driver.  That problem did not show up until 24H2, at least on my PCs.

I'm wondering what might be causing this crashing issue now between Multiplicity 4.01 (latest updates) and Windows 11 (latest updates).  Is anyone else seeing this?

One clarification: Some of the disconnects are Multiplicity only, and the Ethernet connection is maintained.  These tend to be quick dropouts and restarts.  Then there are ones where Ethernet and M4 both drop, and it takes several seconds for the Ethernet to reconnect, then M4.

It seems clear (to you I mean) that there is an Ethernet issue.  Even if you don't see every Ethernet issue (connection is seemingly maintained for other operations), MP does (and likely other apps).

Until that is resolved or eliminated as a possible cause, MP will continue to not perform as expected.

Hi Sean,

There certainly is something weird going on.  Everything was fine until Win 11 24H2 some months ago.  That disconnect issue cleared up when Webroot was uninstalled, and there's a bug in WR that they are trying to fix.  Now, with the 2025-05 quality update, it's become unstable again.  My inclination is to blame Windows, but their bugs are features which everyone else needs to accommodate.  It would be helpful to have some sense for how to solve this.

If your suggestion is that we do what we can to work around fundamental network issues, likely introduced by the OS, a medium that Multiplicity absolutely needs to function for the product to work reliably, we are open to what you have in mind.

Multiplicity is reliant on the network connection remaining reliable.  Should it drop then Multiplicity will try to reconnect, but if this is for a prolonged period of time then the connection is lost entirely as it is only designed to handle a brief outage in KVM mode.  In Seamless mode it will continue to reconnect in the background having moved you back to the primary, but in KVM mode the loss is somewhat more obvious to the user so handles transient drops only (such as a lost packet).
