I created the requested report and have uploaded it per special instructions.  Hope you can determine the source of the problem when using two monitors. I will say that the past few weeks the failure rate is probably 20% not 50%.  But I am looking for 0% failure.

Complex issue, but I think we may have gotten to the bottom of it. Could you download/run the following patch?

It will patch your installation live, no reboot required. (Be sure to say "yes" to restart explorer at the end.)

The version will be v5.87 (Revision 8-c) which, please verify in the About area of settings.

The deep dive in case you're interested: it looks like this is caused by a timing issue, and the fact that when your primary monitor went to sleep, your secondary can be switched over to your primary monitor. In these situations, it's possible that, when your primary wakes back up, that the icons get switched over to it at that time. This would only happen in the scenario where it's exactly that scenario of (1) All your icons are on your secondary, and (2) The primary disappears making the secondary the primary, and then the primary comes back.

Got it, thanks comtronic-gmbh. If you do end up with problems, please follow the same instructions above to take Backup snapshots "correct" and "incorrect", + enable Advanced Logging, reproduce the issue at least once and upload an error report.

But hopefully the patch takes care of the problem.

Is your issue likewise that all of your Fence groups and icons were on your secondary monitor? Thanks for any addl info.

Well- that's not great.

So, helpful would be the following:

(1) Start using the Backup feature to save debug backups, so that when you send in your report, we have them. Take them of (A) Working states, and ( Non-working states, immediately upon getting into them.

You can do this from the Layouts tab

(2) Turn on advanced debug logging. You can find this in the About tab under the Troubleshooting link.

(3) After reproducing the issue and having had saved those before/after backups, go back to the troubleshooting menu and upload an error report via "Create error report package" (and follow the instructions).

You might be able to recreate the scenario more rapidly by turning off your primary monitor for 30 seconds or so and then turning it back on, etc.

ALSO! You can probably start by just going right to "Create error report package" and we can start taking a look at what's there so far while you go and collect more data.

Hopefully this gives us a better look at what is going on.

Ok, thanks for enabling the "Advanced Logging". Please send in another report when you can with that. Please note that you'll need to log off & on (or reboot) for the "Advanced Logging" to begin to take effect. Once you do, we'll start to get additional information.

Regarding the system being so messed up you have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to get back into system – it's unlikely Fences it is causing this and we do not have other reports of this. I guess a followup question would be: are any applications interactive, or is only the desktop / taskbar locked up when you return from resumed? If you uninstall Fences, is the lockup problem resolved?

Looking at this log, likewise, we're working to get a sense of the problem. From what I can tell, your desired state is this:

All icons and fences are on your primary.

With nothing at all on your secondary – no icons, no Fence groups.

In the screenshot I see no loose icons that outside of Fence groups

Then I see this... your "bad state"  with icons outside of groups on the secondary monitor

And the primary monitor, which appears to be sitting below the secondary monitor, just has the overflow of your "Temp auf SRVDC (NAS)" folder portal group.

When it's in this state - I'm wondering if the program even works at all - if you try to drag around a non-FolderPortal group, do the icons go with it, etc etc? I'm guessing "no" and the desktop is just dysfunctional.

It‘s correct. The desires state is picture 1 in your post with no icons or fences on the secondary display. And yes, I do have single icons (PDFs, Word and Excel files outside fences, (see right top corner on my main display. 
Once I get the messed up state everything is locked up and my desktop is indeed dysfunctional, I can move the mouse but am unable to click anything, even in the taskbar. Therefore I‘ll have to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del to be able to log off / log on. After I‘ve done this everything can be clicked and moved around again. I don’t have to reboot the system, logging off and back on helps.

I have had 6 restarts with your special patch and everything is working as I wanted.  All fences on screen 2 (vertical monitor) and nothing on screen 1 (wide horizontal monitor).  I have turned off logging.  I will see how it goes this week.  Maybe you found a solution!!!
