Is solicitation like this permitted? I mean, weren't paid skins were removed for a reason?
I see no problem with one promoting their skins that require the use of stardock software. They are promoting themselves while also promoting Window blinds 11 AND start 10 / 11 / 11v2.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to what will sell more copies of Windowblinds 11. This is a complex problem really, as you can see deeper in the discussion that skinning for Window's 11 is not easy and in turn this is THE PROBLEM. The future of skinning and Windowblinds really does come down to answering these problems long term. Using Windows 7 / 10 parts on Windows 11 / 12 / 13 / 14 will most likely lead to a decline in Windowblinds use long term and Microsoft might not even allow it should they choose to disable windows 10 parts from loading onto future operating systems. The hard truth of the matter is that skinning Windows 11 just didn't go very well. This is probably what led to the shutdown of paid skinning in favor of more free skins to lure in more sales to Windowblinds 11.
Microsoft's strategy isn't likely to change anytime soon. My personal opinion to reinvigorate Windowblinds is for Stardock to build their own file explorer alternative. Stardock already has a better start menu, I am sure they could do employ the same tactics for a file explorer. Best of all Stardock will have more software AND more control over what is skin-able.
