How to pin a shortcut to Windows Taskbar

I have quite a few shortcuts on the Windows Taskbar, but I don't remember how they got there. The standard Windows Desktop (i.e. without Fences) offers a pin-to-start option, but I don't think it offers a pin-to-taskbar.

I have an image of my Windows Taskbar, which I want to post here. But I didn't realize until now that the only way to include it here is with a URL link. I'll go ahead and post the text of my question now and come back here to post the link after I've uploaded it to Drop Box.
