Good morning.
I have a WIndows 10 Home laptop running the latest version of the OS and that runs perfectly.
I also use a product named Macrium Reflect (version 8.1 to create backup images of my laptop,
Have used this for a couple of years now and it works flawlessly.
Recently, I installed a trial version of Fences 4.10.
I use it to create multiple desktops.
So that I can swipe my Win 10 desktop to the left or right (just like a phone.) and storage of icons and such.
I absolutely love it.
Here's my issue and I was wondering if anyone else uses Macrium Reflect along with the Fences app.
And, if they are encountering a similar issue and of course if they have found a solution.
I have 2 desktop pages (or screens if you like) thanks to the Fences app.
The first desktop only has the basic Win 10 icons on it.
IE:
"This PC". "Network", "Recycle Bin".
The second desktop page has a combination of 30 or so folders, shortcuts, and links to websites.
When I try to create a backup image of my laptop to a locally attached USB drive OR a network drive, with these two desktop pages, Macrium Reflect aborts the backup with an error that reads "Backup aborted! - Write operation failed - A device which does not exist was specified."
IF however, I move all of the icons which reside on the second page of my desktop back to the first page of my desktop, the Macrium Reflects completes the image creation process perfectly.
I have repeated the above procedure several times with different locally attached USB drives and USB cables as well as different network drives and the results are the same.
I would be grateful to hear what others think as well as any suggestions (if any).
