Hello. Over my years of using Fences I have waited for two features in particular, but I figured it's time to ask.
First, the option to Restore a Layout Snapshot by double-clicking on it in the "Layouts & snapping" tab. Second, from the same tab, the ability to right-click on a saved layout and choose to Delete, Rename, Restore, or Retake from a context menu.
I spend most of my work hours among 3 different locations/monitor configurations:
- Home Office: Laptop display (1920x1080) plus 3 externals: All 1920x1200 with one in portrait mode
- Business Office: Laptop display (1920x1080) plus 3 externals: Two 3840x2160 and one 1920x1200 in portrait mode
- Laptop alone: Laptop display (1920x1080)
Sometimes on startup (on a different monitor setup than previous uptime) Fences puts icons and fences where they belong, but often not. At those times, I open Fences, go to the "Layouts & snapping" tab, click on the appropriate saved Layout, then click on "Restore Snapshot".
Perhaps I don't have Fences configured correctly? Here's my current config:
- On screen resolution changes: Preserve my desktop layout by scaling my Fences
- Snapping / spacing: All 3 options are checked and Keep Fences spaced = 0 pixels
With my requested features implemented, this would be a simpler chore. Of course, correct sensing of my monitor config and applying the correct Layout is the dream!
Thank you // Scott
