So its that time of year again, i am bit bored  right now, so i thought why not, here comes my obligatory topic about TV shows i watched last year. Perhaps someone will take my recommendation and will watch something off my list, or recommend something himself, like some of the things being tossed around in the last years thread, i then proceeded to watch, like for example:

Man in the High Castle - i did watch Season 1 few years ago. Was bit indifferent toward it, but as said above, after someone mentioned it in my 2020 topic, i decided to give it another go, and currently am like 4 episodes before the end. And its truly great show IMO. For those unaware, its set in 60s in alternative reality in which USA lost WW2 and is divided between 3rdReich and Japan. Later in the show, other realities and traveling to them gets some focus, in that regard its bit like Fringe or Counterpart. All in all, i like it, and highly recommend.

Better Call Saul - spin-off to Breaking Bad, bit different, but still great, if not even better. Perhaps it does not have so many of those tense moments and cliffhangers, but on other hand is even deeper and more complex, when it comes to human nature and relations and whatnot. Another high recommendation.

Narcos: Mexico Season 3 - even without Diego Luna it kept its standard from previous seasons. Another good show worth watching, as far as i am concerned.

The Serpent - show about serial killer from 70s. Excellent. Despite the theme, there was never really much of explicit violence on display, if any - the show was still on occasion tense as hell.

Snowpiercer Season 2 - show about people on the train on frozen Earth in the post-apocalyptic future. With Sean Bean as the villain this time around. Pretty good IMO, kept the standard ot S1.

Black Summer S2 - zombie apocalypse show. I generally dont like this kind of show, focusing moreso on showing atmosphere than story. Tried watching Walking Dead before as well, and could not make it past first 4 episodes. But this was kinda OK, especially this second season.

Tribes of Europe - german post-apoapocalyptic scifi from creators of the DARK. Bit too short and not much happened, but interesting setting with potential into the future, so i am looking forward to see more. Did not blow me away like Dark did with its first season, in that regard its nowhere near as good.

Seven Seconds - show about a roadkill of young black boy by white cop in New York. Very much like older show Killing, tackled similar issues, portraying the grief of the family, classic stuff like racism and corruption in the system... i think it had even the same creators, so no wonder the similarities. I liked Killing better though. Still, this is IMO ok show. Bit sad.

Lupin S2 - french show about conman like Arsene Lupin, though modern setting. Continues where the first season left off. Not bad, but i saw better shows, and actually, did not even finished watching - might return to it though.

Gone For Good - Harlan Coben show, another criminal story. I watched Safe and Stranger before. And liked both more. This one set in France, rather than England like previous 2. Still, if you like crimi stories, its okayish.

Traitors - set in post WW2 England, about espionage, communist threat and whatnot. Okay i guess.

Equinox - danish mystery show, about a girl trying to find out where her sister went missing like 15 years ago or so. Has some norse mythology aspect, surreal things going on. Not quite sure if i liked or not.

Katla - set on Island, about people having dopplegangers coming out of the volcano. Mysterious and kind weird, did not like it that much.

Behind Her Eyes - UK show which looks bit like sort of crimi story first, but takes bit of a supernatural twist with to me, bit of unexpected ending. Overall, okay, but i insist on things to make always sense and are very picky about it, this might be issue.

See - AppleTV show. Starring Jason Momoa and David Bautista. Has absolutely preposterous premise about future in which entire human race got blind (but manages to survive), so applies the same as above, if you need things stuff to make sense, this is not for you. If you can kinda ignore that, it can be sort of entertaining - i for one liked to watch it, did not bore me, there was watchable stuff happening almost all the time. And i can be very picky about what i watch. This somehow managed to entertain me despite its shortcomings as described above, against my expectations.

Ted Lasso - AppleTV sitcom. Bit saccharine at times, bit too much of forced positivity. But overall i liked it, it has likeable characters and can be quite funny at times. Definitely recommend it.

Invasion - AppleTV alien invasion show. With very little aliens until the very end, concentrating more on characters and how they deal with world going to shit. Very slowburn and boring at times, i definitely saw better shows built on the same premise.

Foundation - AppleTV scifi based on famous Isaac Asimov scifi book series. Not bad, but to be fair, i expected way more. Will watch S2, but not sold so far.

Debris - scifi show about debris of alien ship falling to Earth and causing all kind of weird shit - people missing, alternate realities creeping in, dopplegangers, people falling through floor, etc... Basically X-files or Fringe, but all the weird stuff being caused by said debris - which is bit stupid. Nowhere near as good as said shows.

Fargo S4 - in line with other 3 seasons, but style-wise and quality wise. Set in Kansas City in 50s, following dealings between Italian and afroamerican mobsters. If i saw and liked previous 3 seasons, or the original movie at very least, i suppose you are going to like this one as well. 

Lost in Space S3 - same as above, follows the story of S3 and is pretty similar all around. More of a family scifi show, definitely not top of my all-time scifi list. But i still watched it.

Penny Dreadful - mystery/horror/whatever set in 19th century London, starring Eva Green, and having various famous horror characters in it, like Frankenstein, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll, etc... bit different than i expected, thought is going to be some kind of comic-like action show given all above, but its actually quite thoughtful, slower and deeper. Which is a good thing. Worth a watch, for sure.

Frankenstein Chronicles - similar thing as above, with Sean Bean, strictly about Frankenstein though. Bit of a crimi story as well. Not bad.

City on the Hill S2 - show closest in feel to awesome Wire, which is still better IMO, but this aint half-bad either.

Queens Gambit - story about chess and young woman getting absolute master playing it. Was pretty entertaining and liked a lot, despite not playing chess since childhood, so i dont even remenber all the rules, heh.

Frontier - starring Jason Momoa and Shawn Doyle, historic fiction about all the stuff happening in 19th century Canada and English, French, Natives and trade with furs and whatnot. Sort of adventure kind of show, where the heroes have to constantly fight someone and walk on foot from Montreal to Hudson Bay there and back like its few kilometers away. No sense of reality or historical accuracy. Big meh.

Black Earth Rising - show about dealing with Rwanda genocide and crimi-conspiracy story concerning it. This is something i dont know much about, so i was interested to find out. Fairly OK.

Squid Game - got a lof of hype, so i watched it and it was decent. Not as good as the hype would suggest though, IMO:

What we do in Shadows S3 - to be fair, bit disappointing, i thought first 2 seasons were better. Still funny at times, but not as much as before IMO. We shall see what about S4 next year.

Brooklyn 99 - police sitcom i started to watch last year. Pretty good, but i thought it got bit too long with jokes starting to repeat and thus getting bif old. This i feel is the issue with many other sitcoms that ran for too many seasons, i got bit tired with Bing Bang Theory for example around Season 7 as well. Definitely recommended though. 

Star Trek: Discovery S4 - as bad as usual. Not a Star Trek at all, with creators incapable to write decent scifi story, but instead concentrating on their favourite LBQT problematic all the time and this season both the non-binary character of the show and now the sentient computer as well,  getting "seen" as the allegory to current LBQT community getting acknowledged. I have no issue with these people, but this was not what i liked about 90s Trek, why i watched it, and certainly it was not the central theme of those shows, even if it occasionally got tackled. Aside of that, its bunch of terribly written subplots, which are rehashes of episodes from older Trek, that was done in much superior manner. Characters constanty in need to tell each other how they love each other, main heroine either crying or whispering - and naturally always being the one to solve the issue at hand. All in all, hot garbage - i watched it so you dont have to.

Star Trek: Lower Decks S1+ S2 - the best of the new Trek shows. Even if cartoon, feels the most like the old Trek and thus its least offensive. Still some things are pretty annoying, like the over-the-top positive characters or the mischievous lead female ensign.

The Last Kingdom - historic show about young Viking called Uthred Ragnarsson and his adventures. Similar to Vikings shows, which i somehow managed to watch in its entirety, even if it was fairly boring at times. This one i gave up halfway Season 2. Meh.

The unlikely Murderer - about the murder of Olof Palme. I did not know about it very much, so this was interesting.

Deadly Class - show about bunch of kids trained to be assasins and whatnot. Pretty entertaining in the end, even though i was not too keen to watch it based on the premise.

Shadow and Bone - based on some fantasy book series. Not overly original story, but fairly OK. I think better than:

Witcher S2 -  i think overhyped and quite boring at times. The last episode was entertaining though.

The Mist - based on Stephen´s King story. Nowhere near good enough, actually i stopped watching halfway the season, because of how crap it was.

The Nevers - show set in Victorian England, where certain event changed bunch of women, gave them various weird powers, abilities or properties. Then it gets more scifi in the final episode. Fairly OK, looking forward to more.

The Expanse S6 - not finished yet, 2 more episodes to go, but so far, so good. Best space opera kind of scifi show currently, hands down, nothing comes even close since BSG.

Dexter: Young Blood - follows the events of first Dexter show 15 or so years later. And its very much like old Dexter, which i liked for the most part, so now, given i have not seen it in years, i enjoy it again...even if its sort of more of the same. 2 more episodes to go.

Beforeigners S2 - just today watch final episode. Norwegian show about people from over the history popping up in the present day, and repercussions of it. This second season focused on investigation of murders, which look like Jack The Ripper is the perpetrator, as he could have moved through time as well. Liked it more than first season. Some interesting twists and developments.

So there it is. Might have forgotten something, its still more than i thought I looked at the 2020 thread and did not think i watched as much in 2021, now i am not so sure.
