Fences 4 Upgrade FAQ
With the release of Fences 4, we are enforcing the EULA policy of 1 activation (PC) per license:
https://www.stardock.com/support/software-eula
With that, we have compiled a FAQ to cover predictable inquiries.
How does this affect the Fences 4 product in Object Desktop?
Fences 4 will still have 5 concurrent activations as do all the other member products.
If I have an expired Object Desktop license, will that qualify me for a discount for Fences 4?
No; however, every lapsed Object Desktop license can be renewed at a substantial discount - that renewed license will include Fences 4 (and all it's future updates while the Object Destkop license is current) as well as all the other member apps that are included.
To renew your Object Desktop license, please visit your account page that it is under:

If I had more than 1 concurrent activation with Fences 3, will that same count be included with an upgrade to Fences 4?
No, it will not, but discounts will be available forever for more licenses should you purchase them (explained below).
If I purchase Fences 4, can I get more licenses at a discount?
Yes, once you purchase Fences 4 (retail, not corp) you will be able to get additional licenses at a discount using the 'upgrade' link on the product page(s):

Do you provide greater discounts for higher quantities?
Fences now has a 5-pack option for activating multiple PCs on a single key.
https://www.stardock.com/products/fences4/download
There is no 'upgrade' pricing for the 5-pack as it is already heavily discounted.
As noted prior, if 5 is more than you need, one can purchase individual licenses at a perpetual discount if you already have a qualifying product (Fences 4 is, of course, one).
Fences 4 For Business is now available for clients needing much larger concurrent activation counts and other business tools.

Will this new 1 to 1 activation enforcement affect other products I have already purchased?
No, it will not. If you purchase Fences 3 or 4 (or any other product at the time of this writing), it will still have the activation count it had when you purchased it.
If I purchase the upgrade, will it be the new subscription model or a one-time 'permanent' purchase?
It will be a one-time purchase, no subscription will be attached to it.
What is a ‘permanent license’?

It is a license that is not a subscription. With it, one will still receive in-version updates (4.1 → 4.2 → 4.3, etc) but will not receive majors (4 → 5 → 6, etc).
If I have activated on a PC that I no longer have access to, how do I free up the license?

How will this affect Steam purchases?
When Fences 4 became available on Steam, a limited-tim coupon was sent, via the Steam client, to all Steam Fences 3 owners. If anyone did not take advantage of that discount when the coupon was available, we are not able to re-issue them on an individual basis.
