He** no!! impulse requires the buyer to have microsoft no protection internet explorer to work. Which means if microsoft were to ever be outdone by mac stuff stardock will go down the drain with them.
Yeah, much better go with Mac "we don't care about fixing vulnerabilities because our market share is so small".
Stardock is pratically married to microsoft
Ofc: they are Microsoft Gold Partners, as a lot of companies out there. And even without been a partner, a lot of companies develop for Microsoft because it makes sense to develop for the OS that has the biggest consumer market share. Pure businees.
They think that all new computers come with internet explorer and so impulse will always work with every new computer. It's true, one of their ignorant employees said that somewhere on these forums. That's stardocks official excuse for making impulse dependent on internet explorer
A lot of the IE components are used in other parts of the OS, so it's a good bet that they will be always around on a Windows machine.
I guess people who make their own new computers and install a different OS on them besides windows or buy a new pc computer online and have it shipped with another OS besides windows are just experiencing a hullicination.
People who decide to install a non-windows OS should do it knowing that a lot of programs are not going to work. If they don't know that they are deluding themselves or they have been deceived by someone.
So now Microsoft to not loose its position on the world computer stage was forced to develop a new OS, Windows 7.
W7 follows the normal release schedule of Windows versions except for XP to Vista (that was the really strange one). They weren't forced to make W7 any more than they are forced to develop the next Windows right now.
I have friends and family who are programmers and one who instructored at a university in computer science. We all hate internet explorer. We all use firefox or something else. I haven't even met any higher education instructors that know how to use a computer and like internet explorer.
You haven't searched hard enough.
I've actually made my own browser. It's not as good as firefox so bragging rights aren't the point. My point being these stardock people should just make impulse work with firefox or make a new browser themselves.
Why? That doesn't make any sense sorry. IE is probably deployed in most of the computers that Stardock is targeting with its aplications. Why they should tie themselves with a browser that is not even the first one out there or spend money reinventing the wheel?
Btw, this post was written using Firefox 3.0.8.
